Sorry if I missed it, but how did they know what her weight was beforehand? If accurate, that is a DRASTIC weight loss.

I find it hard to believe one could wander around in the woods for that long, knowing how the sun moves. I explored all over the Boundry Waters in MN before the days of cell phones. Had a basic paper map, no compass and found my way around pretty efficiently. Granted I didn't have a potential medical condition that would confuse me and I'm also 42 yo (before relying on technology) ((does that make me sound old?)

ETA: all I mean by the old comment is I knew how to get around without technology. It wasn't efficient, but I knew my survival counted on it.

Snipped by me for focus. She is legally blind. I had not seen that info before today, but, IMO it explains how she could not easily find her way out of the woods.

I did not know that she is legally blind. I want to believe her so badly but still have some doubt. She looks like a really nice person and probably is nice.

WHERE ARE THE CLOTHES??????

How did she sleep? We have coyotes and other wildlife all around us.

Interesting timing of her rescue and the dropping of the court charges. And school starting up again.

Actually, that sounds pretty believable to me. Anyone who has lost weight by a starvation diet will gain weight back very quickly when they start eating again. 10 lbs is probably mostly water weight from the fluids she would have received via IV in the hospital.

On the fence here. .....not sure why.
But I'm glad she is fine now.
I, too wondered what happened to her clothes.
Not like they'd rot and fall off in that amount of time.

I, too, was so leery at first that this was as reported. And now, I feel so very defensive of this woman. I don't understand the significance of nor fascination with the concept that her clothes were not on her body when she was found, and I fear starting a whole discussion about it (how many directions can we go with THAT? let's not find out here). I can not even begin to fathom what I or anyone I know and love might do in this situation, as has been reported. Taking my clothes off - after that many days, with such limited vision, lack of nutrition and proper rest, feelings of isolation, panic, desperation, anger, sadness or whatever anyone might feel - yeah, taking my clothes off might indeed be something I'd do, intentionally or perhaps not. Perhaps merely mindlessly, clinging to anything that once seemed normal...

Gaaah... IDK... I just want something to make sense. Today. In the midst of everything. And for this woman and those who know and love her.

Ugh. I feel like a jerk for not believing this story to being with, and I'm sorry for joking about her looking like Ross after his bad spray tan.

In those pictures you can tell she's lost a ton of weight. In her pre disappearance pictures she looks like she has extra weight on her. Now you can see a very defined spine and bony legs. I do think there is more to the story but I also believe she was in the forest for quite some time. I also question why she was naked when found. Was somebody else involved or did she get into the pre stages of hypothermia and take her clothes off herself? Did someone hold her captive and then set her free threatening to hurt her or her family if she told?

Hmm... yes, this is a bit suspicious. I think whatever charges should be reinstated. Getting lost in the woods doesn't negate whatever she did to have charges filed against her.

I am torn. I really want to believe her, but it's all so weird! I believe she lost a lot of weight, based on the hospital photos, but she doesn't look 50 lbs thinner in the photos. I also believe she easily put 10 lbs back on the first day, just because she was being hydrated.

I can't imagine it was cold enough to become hypothermic. The lows this time of year for that county are mid-70's.

Also someone mentioned above about her limited vision. I imagine without vision correction her eyesight is quite poor, but with her contacts I assume she sees fairly well. Why wouldn't she have her contacts in while lost in the woods? Although not wise, lots of people wear their contacts for far longer than recommended because they still work. In her situation I'd do everything possible to keep my contacts in.

It's just odd that they are mentioning her blindness now but it wasn't part of the story when she went missing. I feel like that is an important thing to mention and would have been covered at the same time the family said she had a medical condition.

My daughter is legally blind and won't wear contacts and only wears her glasses when she drives. She says she can see fine but it's obvious to my husband and I how bad her vision is. She doesn't like the trouble of putting in contacts and she thinks glasses make her eyes look too big.

"Could have" been drugged ("dad says he's "heard that") . Drank rain water out of her hair. Doesn't know why she was naked. Oh, and diabetic.
Comments on this article speak volumes.

This article says the court dropped her charges because she was presumed dead? That doesn't even make sense. The court would assume she missed her court date because she was irresponsible, not because she was dead!

I don't think that is being reported correctly. The Order says it was nol pross'd on the state's motion, which I'm assuming was an oral motion during the hearing on 8/10 since there was no such motion filed. The charge was misdemeanor disorderly conduct so it wasn't any sort of serious crime and it isn't at all unusual for cases such as this to be nol pross'd after the state does some discovery and realizes they may not be able to make the charge stick. Obviously, the timing is suspect and if it really was dismissed because she was presumed dead would make it extremely suspect, but I really don't think that report is correct.

That would make a lot more sense!
