Tuscaloosa man charged with death of 4-month-old infant

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the death of an infant, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacquon Ledarrion Stewart is being held on a felony murder charge.

“Examination revealed internal injuries consistent with abuse. The Violent Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation. The injuries were determined to be life-threatening and later on that same day, the child was placed on life support. Yesterday, the hospital informed us that child had passed away. In consultation with the District Attorney’s Office this morning, those charges have been upgrade to felony murder,” said Violent Crimes Task Force Commander Capt. Jack Kennedy.

A 27-year-old man who was facing aggravated child abuse charges after his girlfriend’s 4-month-old baby was hospitalized in April has been charged with murder after the baby’s death Wednesday.
