Investigators, looking into reports of possible child abuse, went to the Lee County, Alabama, home in which the three adults lived with five children, ages 11, 10, 4, 3 and 8 months. Officials said they found two wooden cages with locks on them and learned the children had been locked in the cages multiple times.

Pamela Deloris Bond, James H. Bond and Kylla Michelle Mann were arrested.

All three adults are facing two counts of aggravated abuse of a child less than 6 years of age and two counts of reckless endangerment. Pamela Bond also faces a count of tampering with physical evidence.

All five children are in the custody of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

Need more info on this -- why, how long, how often, etc., was this done? Trying to be even-handed here -- although it's a bi-i-ig stretch.
Since there were three adults there, I can see no reason why all three of them would need to be away at one time, so that doesn't mitigate them locking them up to keep them "safe." If one or two of the children tried to hurt the others, why lock them all up? (Yes, really squeezing the level of what is barely acceptable with possibly below-normal intelligence people.)
And the 10 and 11 y/o's, were they dangerous to the younger ones or to each other? Were the children nearly starving, and the adults wanted to keep them from trying to get food? Were the children raised by the adults or anyone else as "wild" humans? Were they unable to speak or understand language and feral from being kept in these cages?
I just cannot conceive of anything that would make this situation, as it has been presented, anything close to humane or necessary for even one minute. Need, but almost afraid, to hear more details. SMH. SMH.

Grands should have caged the mother up.
