BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham Police are looking for a missing man.

Otis Wilbur Craig, Jr., 64, was last seen in July in the 900 block of 8th Street Southwest.

Craig’s family said he normally checks in with a relative. He’s described as 6′ and weighs 187 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information on Craig’s whereabouts is asked to call Birmingham Police at (205)328-9311.

'It was horrendous': Birmingham man recalls finding decomposing body in Arlington-West End neighborhood

The man who found a decomposing body in the Arlington-West End neighborhood Thursday said it is something that will forever be etched in his mind.

BPD said officers responded to the portion of Tuscaloosa Avenue just before 2 p.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, they were led to a field near an alley on 16th Street Southwest, where officers found the decomposing remains.

"The victim was badly decomposed," BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. "Officers were unable to determine whether the victim was male or female. Right now, we are investigating this case as an unclassified death however, investigators and patrol officers both observed suspicious signs surrounding this person found in this field."

As investigators work towards answers, loved ones of a missing Birmingham man gathered at the scene Thursday evening.
