It’s one thing to think she left with two men she was possibly chatting with... a whole different thing altogether when LE realizes that there’s NO one matching that description at the bar that night... I think this may unravel fast now that this is coming to light... praying for a miracle though
I think it will too, I think LE is close to announcing more info and her family has been so strong through this. It's time for someone to come clean with what really happened that night, imo.

Just IMHO, I'd like to make that clear, but that co-worker is starting to appear to be in some sort of CYA-mode. Two heavy-set *anybodies* could not hide themselves that well in a crowded bar for an evening. The co-worker let a woman, who she *knew* had no ride, walk out into a big city on her own at night and then herself just went home (or SOMEWHERE else)...talk about *irresponsible*...

It's in all the early reports that the text came in at about 12:15??( Don't have it in front of me) and the friend didn't immediately call or text back because she didn't see it until morning. It's also been widely circulated by family/friends that Paighton didn't drive, her car was left at the coworker's house.

So I'm putting those bits together and wondering why the coworker just went on to sleep. That's strange.[/QUOTE
Has it been verified that the friend who received the text that is being talked about is the friend that was with PH the night she went missing? Not doubting but this thread is getting confusing as to fact vs rumor. TIA

A woman randomly leaving a bar with two huge strange men, just sounds made up. It’s like someone said “what can I say to make her disappearance sound scary?”

I tried to make sense of it by theorizing that she had perhaps fallen off the wagon, and the lure of drugs was too much to resist, danger aside.

But now we learn that law enforcement hasn’t been able to locate either of these men on surveillance video.

So we’re left with a strange event to begin with, and a narrative that isn’t supported by anything, other than an apparent lone witness.

Do we know if PH was even there?

Yeah, I’m wondering if the station took liberties there.

Then again, it stands to reason that she was likely captured on video, both entering and leaving. So if that’s true, and there are no men matching the description caught on video (as law enforcement has apparently said), then it’s reasonable to believe that she did walk out the door alone.

So either way, I tend to buy it.
I followed one story through 2 of it's referenced linked articles and the original stories claim was not there. It was a vague reference. Each MSM built it up. So yes! LIBERTIES!

  • Who did Paighton ride to Tin Roof with that night?
  • Who reported seeing Paighton leave the bar with the two men?
  • Who received the text message from Paighton that night?
  • Is there any video of Paighton leaving the bar?
If the "friend" is also the one she rode to Tin Roof with, something is beginning to stink?
That appears to be the case, IMO:

“‘I know [Paighton] left our home Friday morning for work and was in contact with her family throughout the day,’ Charlaine Houston said. ‘She sent the message to the coworker that she rode with to the Tin Roof that “if I call answer, I don’t know these people and I feel in trouble.” We want to know every detail and we want Paighton to come home safely to us.’” (BBM)

“Houston’s family said she was at the bar that night with friends from work. One of those friends contacted Houston’s family and told them she left the bar with the two men and appeared to do so willing, according to Houston’s brother, Evan.

The friend also shared a text message she said she received from Houston that said, ‘IDK who I am with so if I call please answer. I feel in trouble.’” (BBM)

Well, there we have it!!

The reporter states BPD has spoke to some people who were at the bar that night, but still need to speak to more people and are urging them to come forward.
I apologize for criticizing LE regarding not putting out stills/video of the two men, I'm pretty sure I see where this is heading.

^^ IMHO, the headline on this is very misleading. The reporter never makes a direct quote from BPD to the effect that video shows PH leaving the bar alone. We now hear that the PD cannot find the alleged men on video from that night. Is PH even on any video??

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Sergeant Johnny Williams with the Birmingham Police Department said investigators have reviewed surveillance video from a bar where Paighton Houston was last seen and have not found anyone matching the description of the two men she is believed to have left with.

Officers believe Houston willingly left the Tin Roof bar with two heavy set black men on Friday, December 20, based on information provided in the missing persons report.

Houston’s family said she was at the bar that night with friends from work. One of those friends contacted Houston’s family and told them she left the bar with the two men and appeared to do so willing, according to Houston’s brother, Evan.

The friend also shared a text message she said she received from Houston that said, “IDK who I am with so if I call please answer. I feel in trouble.”

So her friend is either grossly mistaken, or possibly made up a story that has backfired? Possibly made up a description of someone that she left with, but then no one was there to fit the description?

What report confirms whether the "friend" or "co-worker" is female or male. Link, anyone?
According to this article, it was a female:
“Houston’s family said she was at the bar that night with friends from work. One of those friends contacted Houston’s family and told them she left the bar with the two men and appeared to do so willing, according to Houston’s brother, Evan.

The friend also shared a text message she said she received from Houston that said, ‘IDK who I am with so if I call please answer. I feel in trouble.’

After hearing from the friend, Houston’s brother and father went straight to police and filed the report.“ (bolded and underlined by me)

Well, if we can trust MSM we now have 1 FACT: PH left the bar alone.

Even though the headline says she "left alone," I don't hear where the reporter makes that claim in the actual report. She repeats the same info that's been given elsewhere: video did not show the two men LE was looking for; there's NO mention of video showing PH leaving, alone or otherwise. Unless I missed something (always possible!) the media used a misleading headline as clickbait.

ETA: Sorry, didn't mean to duplicate what others have said. I took time to listen to the news clip twice before posting, which put me WAY behind! ;)

Yeah, after ten days LE is letting the cat out of the bag. IMO, that is sometimes done intentionally to put pressure on a certain person. I'm not saying the friend specifically ... but something is not adding up. I'll be curious to see if family makes a statement about this latest revelation.

I feel as though she must have been at the bar- I think it would have come out far sooner if she wasn’t seen on camera ever and her other friends/coworkers couldn’t corroborate the other friends story. Moo
Unless they’re all in it together? Too far fetched if you ask me

Community holding out hope for Paighton Houston’s return

Dec 30, 2019

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — It has been 10 days since Paighton Houston was last seen.

Now, those who love her are holding out hope that she will be found.

On Monday, dozens turned out at Clearbranch United Methodist Church in Trussville to pray for her safe return, as well as sing and hold candles together to honor Houston.

“It touched us and it means a lot we want to keep this story going,” said Gary Harding, Houston’s uncle. “We want people out there to know we are still searching for Paighton and someone out there has some information and we are asking.”

[..]

“It’s been a gut-wrenching week for our family,” Harding said. “We are hopeful Paighton will return home safely, but it’s been a difficult week not knowing where she is.”
My dad’s best friend is the uncle who is quoted in this article. I’m almost certain that many more things will be revealed in the near future. THIS IS MOO & could be totally wrong!

It’s been a while since I’ve seen so many rumors in a thread here. I hope the thread stays open. This is a great family, who deserves justice (as every other family does as well)!

If the friend's information about PH leaving the Tin Roof with two heavy-set men is now being called into question, is there any reason to believe that she received a text at all? Has LE at least verified the text? It's quite odd that someone who was at a bar with live music at 10.30p was already home and asleep by 12.15a; and also that when she got home and saw PH's car still there that she didn't call immediately if only to say "get this car out of my driveway."
The story is getting murkier every minute.
A text message can easily be verified, even without her phone.

Yeah, I forgot she was there with friends and coworkers. No way she wasn’t there, if all of them said she was.

This is so weird.

Thank you for finding the media links which confirm that all of the details came from the co-worker she rode to the bar with. I think I know which person that is via social media. Now my head is spinning with why?

Well, if we can trust MSM we now have 1 FACT: PH left the bar alone.
The rest is still just the word of a co-worker. Truth is, this forum is now mis-named.
Did they actually say that she left alone? Unless there is video showing that she did then I'm not sure that can be stated as a fact. If she left alone and her car was not there, then how did she leave? Walk?

I think they just said she that they didn't find the two men that she "supposedly" left with.
