OK, I'll re-phrase...

Anybody, regardless of color, age, social standing, relationship to the child or gender, who takes sexual advantage of a child...should be shot/hung/electrocuted, take your choice. We should feel the same about this woman as we would about a 44 year old man caught in the backseat, naked, with a 13 year old girl!!

This was the point I was trying to make.

I think most of us here do! It is very sad. It also touches on a duality we discussed some in the George Hamilton thread about a month ago - oftentimes, young boys who are taken advantage of sexually by older women do not consider it a bad thing.

It is always morally repugnant for an adult to have sexual relations with a non-adult, but I know more than one man who was introduced at a young age to sex by an older woman - and none of them are willing to define it as abuse. From the little we know about this case, it sounds like the boy isn't talking (or accusing) and that does not surprise me.

I do not think they will be able to prosecute this woman to the fullest extent if the child won't speak up. But it does sound like the community is in an outrage and her days of school leadership are probably over.

:waitasec: Maybe we need to move this to crimes in the news because it IS a crime! There is so much public outrage here on Long Island over this case, you have no idea. She needs to be jailed and labeled a sex offender. The SICK thing is that her daughter goes to school with this boy... they're in 8th grade together!

The 13-year-old boy who Nassau police said was in the backseat of a sport utility vehicle with a 44-year-old mom attends the same middle school in Baldwin where she serves as a PTA vice president, school district officials said in a statement Tuesday.

The woman, Joan Tuckruskye, of Baldwin, is a vice president of the Baldwin Middle School Parent-Teacher Association.

Nassau police said Tuesday they are continuing to investigate whether Tuckruskye and the boy had sex, with the possibility of upgrading the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Citing the police investigation, school officials would not provide additional details Tuesday other than to confirm in the statement that the boy attends Baldwin Middle School.

If they are molesting children for sexual gratification reasons for themselves then that makes them pedophiles. What if we have someone who likes children and adults are they a bi-pedophile then liking both? Most molestation cases with children involve someone they know, close relatives, family friends. Those people can be pedophiles as well.

Respectfully, molesting children does not make someone a pedophile - at least not according to the psych community or the LE community. Having a genuine preference for sexual relations with children makes someone a pedophile.

Not all pedophiles are child molesters and not all child molesters are pedophiles. I feel like the distinction is important because if we perpetuate the myth that only pedophiles molest, people are less likely to be cautious about the reality - the reality is that most children (as you point out) are molested by people they know and are close to and aren't pedophiles.

A woman who is sleeping with an alcoholic grown man who has only had sexual experiences with other adult females may think it's okay to leave him alone with her 6-year-old daughter because he's obviously not "into kids" that way - but someone like that is actually much more likely to molest her daughter than a random stranger pedophile.

This case should be treated the way a case of a 44 yr old man and a 13 yr old girl would be treated. They are no different. Of course they were having sex or getting ready to. Why would they be naked from the waist down if they weren't just done or getting ready to have sex.

Is the stupid woman married with children? I don't get how a woman of 44 yrs could even think of sex with a 13 yr old KID. What is there that would attract? If the woman was that hard up why not just go to a bar and pick up some 21 yr old guy? Sounds like she likes LITTLE BOYS. The whole thing is sickening.

Is she going to get away with this even though there are laws against it? I doubt if she is to pretty to go to prison so what other excuse is there for not nailing her butt? If I were the parents of that 13 yr old boy I would be raising holy heck. I hope they sue her butt if she doesn't get a long time in prison and charged with something sexual.

Word on the street around here is that the two collaborated their stories so carefully, it could not be proven that any sexual contact occurred other than kissing. Therefore, she only got endangering. I think they should re-question them both again. Can they do that to get the info they need to charge her as a pedophile?

It is very difficult to charge someone with sexual assault if the minor involved does not support the charge.

Also, it is not against the law to be a pedophile, so no charges could be made in that regard. It is, of course, against the law for an adult to have sexual contact with a child.

I believe this was also the problem with domestic assault - the police would show up, but the woman (generally, of course) would not press charges. In these cases in many jurisdictions now the police can haul one or both in if they see evidence of an assault even if the victim does not wish to go forward.

I can see events like this one expanding those principles to cases of sexual assault against minors. Al though I have to believe if the genders in this case were reversed the authorities would be much more inclined to charge the adult under existing statutes.

True! The woman should have been tested for semen (or is that seman?). The only way to tell. In cases where the genders are reversed from this one, the female victim would have been tested and if sex had taken place, there would be physical evidence. Generally the victim is tested voluntarily. Here, the perp needed to be tested and it would have required a warrant, but she should have been tested and there is no excuse for not doing so. It is not unusual for a victim to deny the crime - in domestic violence or in the case of an adult against a child.

The woman should go to jail.

She got six months prison which probably was only a few months. Ten years probation. Oh no. Nope not a sex offender. She is on no registry.

Double da*n standard. They did test clothing I believe and saliva was present????

An article from way back said the poor kid was on football, and in choir, did well in school. After this he retreated. I pray today he is doing well, and his family is OK.
