Wow! I am gobsmacked! I never thought they would convict her of capital murder even though it was deserved. Jury, I salute you! :fireworks2:

Same here. I was so worried they would see it as punishment gone wrong and without intent.

Bless you for your dedication to this little girl, Shelby. I am sure she is smiling your way right now. Her life did matter.

Her life mattered so much. SO very much.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 46s 47 seconds agoOnce again, Joyce Garrard guilty of capital murder. Penalty phase begins Monday morning.

Thank You. And penalty phase Monday already... So no beating around the bush in this court room, as JSS allowed in the Arias trial. What a breath of fresh air. That poor little girl

Sorry, haven't been keeping up, could someone tell me what the deal is with Joyce Hardin ? She was initially arrested wasn't she ? TIA

ETA: Ok, just read in an article that J. Hardin still has not been tried. I wonder what the hold up is.

I have silently followed--have never forgotten this little angel--am also gob-smacked over the verdict--so quickly...Agree with the verdict but have followed enough to see where the defense was trying to go---lessen GM's intent and actions...Didn't work !!! I was shocked when this little angel died and am still horrified ---all over 2-3 candy bars.....PS I have never heard about restriction of chocolate to treat seizure disorders unless the child is on a ketogenic diet--but these children have to eat tons of whipped cream etc---lots of fat--I have never heard anything about chocolate restriction.

Good judge, great jury. Yes, refreshing to see the system work as it should.

Glad the jury reached the right decision it restores some faith in the justice system. R.I.P Savannah.

Good ! Now 'fry' that witch and be done with it ! Have to admit I was worried about the outcome ; how dare that monster try to portray herself as a loving grandma !!!!! At least the jury saw the truth ; for that we can be grateful.

What a horrible death for that girl. :(

Rest in gentle peace, Savannah. You deserved to have a long life !!
:moo:

Very pleased to see the guilty verdict!

I will admit I was worried she would get a lesser charge. Now just to wait till Monday.

When is the stepmum up? Praying for a similar outcome too.

Children matter. They arent simply possessions and you cant treat them as you please. That is what this verdict says to me. She couldnt get past the bus video. There was no way, even if she hadnt been a sour, emotionless, cantankerous soul. Even if she had baked the judge and jury chocolate chip cookies, there was no way to get around that bus video.

Alabama throw, not "give me a smoke." Yeah right.

In one of the articles someone said "she came up hard." Yup, I think that is true. Then I guess she will do well where she is headed.

I'm so relieved the jury got it and found her guilty. JH is next. And if I were Heather Walker, I'd file a wrongful death civil suit against Robert Hardin for moving back to Alabama and taking Savannah to live with this old battle axe & step mom without telling her. Sue him for everything he's worth!

RIP Savannah. Your life mattered.
