GUILTY AL - Savannah Hardin, 9, forced to run til she died, Etowah Co., 17 Feb 2012

  • #861
Hi Y'all,

I've been so MIA for a few days... Keeping my grand baby!

I am so glad she was found guilty and I'm watching the tweeter feed now, seems the defense has their DR. "She had a bad life" speaking up for her now. The CMJG's life makes it sound like she deserves life instead of death. I have also read where her family members spoke for her.

I asked a reporter earlier, well, did she wipe her eyes for Savannah? Does Savannah get to celebrate anymore birthdays?

After keeping my grand baby, I just can't have any sympathy for her at all.

Many people have bad lives, they don't take it out on kids. In fact they strive to do so much more in loving children.

BBM~ I agree! I mean...if your life was THAT bad..then get some help or...kill *yourself* I know that's harsh and mean but... better to take your own life than to take an innocent who is just beginning theirs!!! This child didn't deserve to be punished for grandmas bad childhood and life! Its an excuse and a bad one at that!!! Robert must have known what an emotional mess grandma was too! What an angry woman she was! I almost feel more anger toward him!! What a thoughtless selfish ignorant man!!!!

found this on journalist robert richardson's twitter fyi:

Death penalty recommendations in AL require 10 of 12 jurors. Life in prison without parole requires 7 votes.

I wish it was majority all over the US. I think she will get death. I would have a hard time sitting through that trial knowing what that 9 yr old went through and not vote for death.

Robert Hardin is in court today.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 3m3 minutes ago

He is Savannahs father and has not been to court before, to my knowledge.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 3m3 minutes ago

He sat watching as several members of Joyce Garrard's family lined the partition in court, weeping and embracing her as she passed.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 3m3 minutes ago

Garrard patted each member on the back and whispered words in his or her ear.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 2m2 minutes ago

Robert was not among them. He is sitting behind the prosecution table.

Good morning!

Seems a bit telling that Robert didn't say hi to his killer mom and that he's sitting on the pros. side...........

  • #866
Good morning all! Yep I saw on the justice for Savannah Hardin FB page that Robert didn't appear to be supporting JG. Interesting read over there. So, RH has turned on his mother that he entrusted to care for his child. It's a little late for that, Ya think?

Justice for Savannah today!

It sounds like a friggin 'meet and greet'! I've never heard of that in a courtroom either. But after following JA case, nothings surprises me anymore.

Prosecutor Marcus Reid asked jury "if not now, when? I'f not this case, what case?" With regards to death penalty.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 7m7 minutes ago

Reid asked jurors to consider what went on inside the home to compel Savannah Hardin to keep running past point of endurance.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 7m7 minutes ago

We know what happened in that yard because people saw it," he said

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 6m6 minutes ago

Reid pointed out that Robert Hardin did not testify yesterday with family. Did not point him out.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 5m5 minutes ago

Reid: "this is the only case I know of where the perpetrator forced the victim to participate in her own death."

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 4m4 minutes ago

He told jury to consider Joyce cried more when her own family testified about her life than when he showed her Savannah's pants on stand.

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 4m4 minutes ago

"Savannah is dead. Joyce Garrard is pitiless. In her mind, she's done nothing wrong. She hasn't shown you she's sorry Savannah is dead."

WilliamThornton @billineastala · 3m3 minutes ago

Going back in. Defense up next.

He talked the struggle jury will have making decision. He said Garrard did not struggle when Savannah was crying, vomiting, begging to stop.

Reid said when Savannah was on ground, already unsavable, Garrard began lying to medics, then doctors. "It's like she killed her twice."

Prosecutors say jury must be unanimous in deciding this is heinous atrocious and cruel. If yes, vote on life or death. 10 needed for death.

Reid said this is only case he knows of where the perpetrator forced the victim to help kill herself. Calls it heinous, atrocious and cruel.

"recognition of repentance or sorrow Savannah is dead. She's not sorry. What's hard for you is easy for her. There's only 1 recommendation."

Thanks for the tweets, Queenie and Shelby!

Sounds like the Prosecution's closing is pretty compelling so far.

You did a great job, Queenie! Sometimes it's hard to copy/paste tweets. I do mine on a Mac without a mouse and it gets a bit quirky at times.

Good morning ~Lyric~! So glad you've joined us in this vigil seeking justice for Savannah.

Good luck learning to use your tablet. Mr. wm is bringing me into the 21st century and buying me a smart phone this month. I'm nervous about learning to use it as I still use a flip phone, LOL!

I was thinking on this, How big, or what is the age of the courthouse there? Here, We have a justice center, with the county jail right next to the courthouse with an underground tunnel to the courtrooms. It's not huge, but it's adequate for it's purpose, tho, we need a new jail now due to overcrowding. Parking is a nightmare, if you need to see the court clerk and such lol.
The courthouse in the neighboring county, the jail is down the street, so they transport and bring through the side door.
You would think, they would have brought her early and had her in a holding room of some kind. Geeze.
