Well. I can find good things about her being in prison for life. I imagine her prison mates don't take kindly to child killers.

and i hope every single day is a living hell for her :jail:

with a vote of 7-5 and all jurors finding heinous, atrocious and cruel can the judge still give her death? this was a recommendation after all, not a sentence......will research some between now and the 11th.....

All I can say is Well Grandma, I sure hope it was worth it....Sure hope it was worth destroying Heather's life ( which I firmly believe she was behind the child custody thing, dollars and cents).

Sure it hope it was worth it to you, to take an innocent little baby's life, all to prove you were in control of all things.

Glad to hear this outcome, I thought perhaps the DP wasn't the way to go all along.

But either way this woman is now locked away for life and cannot harm anyone else with her cruel controlling ways, very glad to see the back of her. Child killers don't go down very well in prison (strange to think of prisoners having such morals really...) so hopefully her fellow inmates will give her some of their own taste of justice.

Maybe Savannah can RIP now, poor sweet child

Etowah County jury recommends LIFE IN PRISON for Joyce Hardin Garrard, convicted Friday of capital murder of granddaughter.

I would've probably gone for life too. Life is not an easy sentence. Personally, I'd prefer death.

Sheriff Todd Enteekin said there were a lot of people across the country and in Etowah County who said that they couldn't convict Garrard.

Defense attorney Dani Bone said he plans to appeal, saying, "Joyce Garrard did not receive a fair trial." He noted that the judge excluded medical evidence that the defense wanted to present. He also repeated his assertion that the defense has evidence at least four jurors were on Facebook during the trial, despite the judge's admonitions to avoid social media.

Because Thursday was Garrard's birthday, deputies allowed her to hug relatives across the short wall that separates the front of the courtroom from the spectators before court opened in the morning.

Joyce embraced her husband Johnny Garrard for several minutes, rubbing his back and the back of his head as she and her relatives wept.

Afterward, she sat down at the defense table and stared at her son and Savannah's father, Robert, who was in the courtroom for the first time. He sat directly behind the prosecution table and did not appear to return the eye contact.
