The family of a Cottonwood woman who vanished after the 2023 holiday season is hoping their loved one will return home after a year of hopes and prayers.

The day after Christmas last year, Sharon Dobbs disappeared, leaving her brother’s house in the 4500 block of Iris Road in Cottonwood when she told him she was going to a friend’s house and would come back the next day; however, she never returned.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office put out a BOLO alert this week for Sharon Denise Parmer Dobbs — a Cottonwood woman who has been missing since the day after Christmas last year.

This week, the sheriff’s office did a ground search in south Dothan looking for her bringing more eyes to the case.

Burgess (her mother) says it’s scary as it has been almost a year without tips. She says Dobbs is without her medication and she was a walker and had a lot of friends so there is no telling where she could be.

I wonder if LE believe she is still alive, because of financial transactions or other evidence? Otherwise wouldn't they be saying more about thinking Sharon is in danger, or other similar messages in their appeals for information?

With Christmas wrapping up last week, the holiday season brought the family of Sharon Dobbs gloom instead of joy, as their minds have been wandering about her whereabouts for 2 years now.

*****

Her mother says her daughter tends to roam as she was a frequent walker around the southern end of Houston County, and she knew everybody. She said she had a male friend in Bonifay she would often stay with, but Burgess says he hasn’t seen her either.

Although there’s no word about her whereabouts, her mother is still holding on to hope.

This is a local case to me. The area where she is missing from- southern Dothan/Houston County is very rural. My concern is that someone took advantage of of her as a frequent walker.
