Bay Minette man gets 99 years in child rape case

BAY MINETTE, Ala. -- Titus Eugene Mallory on Tuesday received a 99-year prison sentence for raping a then-9-year-old girl whom he infected with the sexually-transmitted disease chlamydia.

In March, a jury found Mallory, 34, of Bay Minette, guilty of first-degree rape.

I see it now -- appeal for ineffective counsel:

Citing ineffective legal counsel, Mallory fired his defense attorney, J. Clark Stankoski, Tuesday morning prior to the sentencing, according to Stankoski.

"That is his prerogative; however, I disagree with his assertion of my handling his case," Stankoski said.

Wonder if the will get a new trial on our dime. Jeezzz....
