Beloved Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin, best known for his work on "Little Miss Sunshine," and "Argo," died in California this week, family members said Friday.

Arkin was 89.

“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed," according to a family statement to NBC News...

Such a long career and he played so many characters. AA was great.

He was a wonderful actor. So many good movies. "The In-Laws" ("Serpentine! Serpentine!") and "The Russians Are Coming" are among my favorites.

Oh.

It shouldn't be a surprise that as we age, the celebrities/musicians we loved so much growing up have also aged and will surely die before us, but it always makes me sad anyways.

"Indian Summer" is one of my favorites, but I honestly can't say I ever saw any of his movies that I didn't like.

My condolences to those who loved him.

RSBM Same here.

Understanding the inevitable as we age is so difficult but always so sad when we see the celeb and musical "mainstays" of our life pass on.
