We would very much like to trace a man by the name of Pawel Wrzyszcz, aged in his lates 20s to early 30s, who we think may have been living and working at a car wash or car washes in the Peterborough and Stamford area in the mid to late period of 2009. If anyone knows Pawel, or knew him at the time, please contact us as soon as possible. And if Pawel himself sees this appeal, we would very much like to hear from him.
– DET SUPT STUART MORRISON

I found the actual article containing the information regarding the car wash guy so thought I’d post it here in the thread: https://www.itv.com/news/calendar/s...of-inquiry-5-years-after-murder-of-alan-wood/

I wonder if they found him. They've had plenty of time.
It’s unclear whether they ever located him and why they even wanted to speak to him in the first place. The detective stressed he wasn’t a suspect but they must have thought he could be linked to the suspect in some way at least?

Det Supt Morrison said: "I would like to stress that he is not a suspect in this case and we would simply like to talk to him to see if he has any information that may help."

This appears to be a video highlighting the main points from the Donal Macintyre Unsolved episode. Very informative and well worth a watch:

Thanks.

This reminded me that Alan had, at some stage, worked in a prison garden. I had forgotten that.

There was also reference to the escort theory. We had wondered where that came from. In the video they didn't say that Alan had used escorts, simply that an escort could have acted like a Trojan Horse: if Alan had booked an escort, he would have opened the door to her.

While I am not at all implying that there is any relationship between these cases, I am struck by how similar some of the details are in this case with the 2004 unsolved murder of Al "Oakey" Kite (attack on a man in his home, binding and torturing, near decapitation, a suspect who walks with a limp who may be Eastern European, suspect captured on camera withdrawing money from an ATM, etc).

Denver Gazette Brutal Killing of Colorado Homeowner
I had never fully looked into the Al Kite case before but I just watched a documentary about it and the amount of details that match up between the two cases is crazy. They have DNA from both cases apparently BUT it is strongly suggested that TWO men killed Alan Wood, they have the DNA of one of these, could the other man be the same guy who killed Al Kite?

I’d usually think this was massively reaching but after watching this, I don’t know what to think!

Yeah - I still don't think they are related, but the amount of similarities between the cases is crazy. I learned from your link that in addition to all the other shared characteristics of the torture-murder, Al Kite was also stabbed in the eye, and if I'm not mistaken so was Alan Wood. However, Alan Wood was not cut/beaten on the feet like Al Kite was (as far as I know). The good thing is that DNA is available in both cases - fingers crossed the murders of these two nice people are solved one day soon.

Yeah the torture and eye stabbing are eerily similar, also in both cases I believe an attempted decapitation was made. Then obviously we have suspect with a limp, Eastern European accent, stealing victims card and using it at ATM’s. Caught on camera in both cases too but with faces hidden. Even the victims are similar, mild mannered men, with no known enemies or links to crime, living alone.

DNA showed that the Al Kite murderer has Romanian ethnicity. The murderer of Alan Wood seems to be Easter European also. (Police have his DNA and have produced videos and appeals in several Eastern European languages.) Eastern Europe was cut off from the West for quite some time. This was especially the case with Romania, Bulgaria and Albania. They did things differently there and despite the length of time since end of the Cold War, British and US police, criminologists, profilers and others probably don't know so much about how criminals from those countries work.
