I just flew to alaska on AA. I can atest to sloppiness, etc onboard. Trash in seat pockets, no functioning usb charge port, no offer of blankets for 7 hour night flight. But that flight attendant sure could bark at me in full yell mode if my nearly empty tiny pack wasn't completely under the seat in front of me. Even when the whole plane load of ppl were sleeping or resting.

It's not sloppiness across the board, just that ak airlines, and AA routinely treat ak passengers like it's the route they themselves never want to go on. When in reality of course it's the most beautiful route.

1) in general, an atmosphere where the pilots would be unafraid to discuss their mental issues is long overdue
2) however, “hallucinogen-induced perception disorder” might not be the best welcoming card. Given that “altitude-induced perception disorder” is a problem per se. This being said, there is a lack of specialists in all areas of aviation. So I hope his knowledge and experience can be of use. As long as he gets his act together.

The whole travel industry has been hit hard by Covid. It might take some time to see the improvement.

I got brave and flew Alaska twice in the last week. The doors and windows stayed in tact/bolted on. For me the turbulence was the scariest part, but the flight attendants saw that I was nervous and were very nice.

I have personally never flown Alaska Air. But I know several people that have and some that fly regularly. It seems to be pretty good reviews in general.

My husband will never fly Alaska again. It doesn't matter how much we won from them, we will never use that airline again. The captain and crew were wonderful to my husband and the other passengers but we can't book that airline anymore.

That is a terrible news article. I encourage people to go look at the actual report. Basically, no one was checking to make sure the workers were following procedures which required the steps be followed, that they be documents, that they be checked and verified. And faults the FAA for not ensuring that stuff was being done.
