That's sad. I hate cases like this where the police don't do their due dilligence and now even if they wanted to, all that evidence is lost. I'd be interested in reading some documents from the civil suit to see what draws so much suspicion onto the young man.

Article definitely brings up some good questions.

For those curious, Prague is a small, rural town, about 60 miles east of OKC. Latest population reported is less than 2,500 and is 100% rural. It is not close enough to any city to be considered a suburb. I would guess it’s one of those places where everyone knows everyone JMO

A Lincoln County District Court judge has sided with the family of a teen found dead in her garage after her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Alaunna Raffield died December 8, 2020. Her family found her in their garage with a gunshot wound to the head.

“About 6:15 that morning, Heather got up to let the dogs out, and I was in there getting ready for work,” Kevin Williams, Raffield’s stepfather told News 4 in a 2022 interview. “Heather was kneeling down next to Raffield. She was lying down on the ground flat out on her back,” he said. “So we called 911.”

Raffield’s family told News 4 they never heard a gunshot.

A gun that was found several feet from her body belonged to the family but has never been positively identified as the gun used in her death.

A gun powder residue test was never conducted on Raffield’s head or hands, but her clothing was tested only after a funeral home employee washed the sweater she was wearing three times.

Authorities and the medical examiner ruled her death as a suicide.

The Prague Police Department says they closed the case. The OSBI says they never opened one. The Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office told News 4 in 2022 the case was an open investigation but when News 4 reached out to the DA September 13, 2024 for comment, we never heard back.

Police said Raffield also had a relationship with an 18-year-old man, who admitted to police that he logged into Raffield’s social media account after her death to get pictures. He also admitted to investigators that he is the one responsible for multiple cryptic messages sent from Raffield’s account after her death.

Cody Baker, or "Cody Terrell", is the 18 yo who was obsessed with Alaunna.
There's a lot here... secret instagram accounts, misleading investigators, investigators NOT investigating and being - I hate to say it - plain lazy... lazy work on a case of any person let alone a child is unacceptable

The judgment was $11, 688,485.30 exactly based on punitive damages for “shocking behavior,” for pain and suffering, lost future earnings, and loss of companionship. Future earnings were calculated under the modest assumption that Alaunna, who loved cooking pastries, would have become a pastry chef if her death had not been caused by Cody Baker, an obsessed stalker who called the 14-year-old cheerleader “my forever love.” Baker, who appeared without a lawyer at a hearing on September 12, tried unsuccessfully to claim he was not properly served with the lawsuit.

Brandon Pierson, who obtained the judgment on behalf of Palmer Law PLC, characterized the court victory as bittersweet.

“This judgment is mostly symbolic, except to officially and forever assign legal blame for Alaunna’s death in the eyes of the public,” said Pierson. Within hours of the hearing, a copy of the judgment was emailed to the Lincoln County District Attorney, urging a new look at Alaunna’s dormant case which has remained officially open, but stagnant, since 2021.

In an affidavit, Officer Hensley said Baker’s access to a pickup truck on the night of Alaunna’s death was completely missed during the botched investigation. It was determined in the course of the lawsuit that Cody Baker has used at least 6 different names or aliases, and had his name legally changed to “Cody Mullen” after Alaunna’s death. Cody Baker also called himself “Cody Terrell” during the period he stalked Alaunna.
