Alcoholic bears saved by Brigitte Bardot

Two brown bears kept at a restaurant (!?) in Sochi, Russia, have become addicted to alcohol after customers kept giving them drinks. Now they have been rescued by Brigitte Bardot's animal foundation and the UK's Big Hearts charity.

No Russian zoo would accept the bears, so they are being sent to a rescue center in Romania, which houses about 70 bears. Most of them have also been rescued from restaurants where they were kept for show. The centers hopes the bears' rehab will be successful.

When they say rehabbing, do they mean like a 12-step program?!

Poor babies. I hope they can hang on and make it out of there!! Imagine what it will be like for them -- to be OUT of that situation. Oh, I wish them well.

How could the rehab not be successful for the bears? They just need to graduallly wean them off the alcohol and give them supportive care and good housing, nutrition, and exercise. It's not like the bears can fall off the wagon by going out and buying their own beer.
