i heard the taped call yesterday & was stunned....i have always looooooved Alec Baldwin...i'm so disappointed

Same here. I usually have no trouble separating an entertainer's work from his/her personal life and enjoying the work no matter what. But I can't get past child abuse. I'll never be able to watch Baldwin now without hearing that tape in my head. That poor little girl. I agree with the other posters who support the tape's leakage if that's what it took to protect Ireland from this abuse.

Alec Baldwin is yelling, cursing, using street threats toward his 11-year-old daughter. no wonder she's frightened of him. no wonder she doesnt want to give him a chance to "make sure you REALLY get it!"

no female should be subjected to a father or mother who socializes her to sit still for that type of verbal abuse and physical threat from a male who's stronger, older, and bigger than she is ......... not even if that male is her father.

Baldwin says: "I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child." How pathetic that he isn't as concerned about what his abuse does to his child.

that's one of the main problems with child abuse in "civilized society" ......... it's the shush/the bad ..... dont let anyone know because it will reflect badly on the little abuse victim ....... if the little abuse victim believes this warning, the little abuse victim can end up in a little coffin!

In no way am a fan of Baldwin. I think he and Basinger have made a hash of parenting their daughter, and their very public battles are deplorable.

On the other hand, after listening to this, and I am ashamed that I listened to it, I think it is disgusting that anyone released this to the media. I have to guess it was Basinger, and I think it was a low and dirty thing to do, airing this publicly. I actually think that, other than the cuss words used, he was fairly calm, but unmistakeably angry.

I have 3 kids, and I have lost it with them, and said things I should not have said, or reacted in great anger. I am sure I have said things that rival his angry tirade. I have apologized later, and expressed my remorse at my lack of self-control, but I can't say this tape is any worse than my worst angry tirade dished out as a parent.

Do we know what had transpired betwee him and his daughter prior to this phone call?

That is a good question. We do not know what was going on. My first thought was ,Did she get in trouble with the phone? This is the age when the text and AIM starts. So...... we could assume that.
We could assume that the tape was either edited also.
This makes the Court System look like a joke. Why in the world would someone put that out there?
This was a stupid thing to do considering now that it is out there, will she be forever bullied at school under the radar ? Someone does not belong in the Family Court System.

I only heard a little on Cnn I think.... I did not listen to TMZ. They sould take it down for the girls sake. Before her classmates get it. Someone wasn't thinking about the girl. Some little punk will use it as a ringtone next. I hope it was worth it,

I agree, Seven, and it only ends up enabling the abuser. Exposure is obviously not easy or painless for the victim, but is it worse than living with the abuse? Not imo.

Sure, kids can be difficult, no one's perfect and anyone can lose their temper... but loss of temper isn't necessarily abuse. Baldwin didn't lose his temper in the heat of the moment in an argument with his daughter... she wasn't even there... he went out of his way to attack her and be as abusive as he could possibly be on a telephone. He is one scary SOB.

After hearing Baldwin's cruel attack on his child in his own words and his own voice, I think it's clear who the problem is in that family's issues.

While I think Alec's phone call is immature and inappropriate and shows his legendary temper, both Kim and Alec bear equal responsibility in this matter - they are both parent nightmares who never ever put the welfare of their child above the very public disaster of their divorce. I would go so far as to say Kim is the even greater offender in that regard - she seems pathologically incapable of keeping their private affairs private.

I have no problem believing Kim has helped poison their daughter against Alec. I would bet my very last dollar that Kim has said things about Alec to her daughter repeatedly that are way worse than what Alec said to his daughter in this conversation (a private conversation which I am sure Kim leaked). Kim slings vile vulgarities about him in public, so it's not such a stretch to think how much worse she can be one on one with this young girl.

11-year-old girls in the middle of a bitter divorce are capable of all manner of manipulative, loutish, vile piggish behavior - I speak from experience here. While Alec is the adult and should behave with a higher standard of maturity, I'm not about to slam him for life based on one phone call without knowing the events that led up to it.

I wish he had taken the high road, but he didn't. I wish Kim would take the high road, but she doesn't. I can only imagine the damage done to the child.

Both parents should get a clue. They are both disgraceful, but only one of them constantly leaks their disgraceful behavior to the public.

earlier in the day, tmz had a top of the page story about kim being "arraigned" for not complying with alec's court order, but that story has now disappeared ...... there is this comment from kim's lawyer, neal hersh:

Alec Baldwin is a child abuser, a narcissist and a COWARD. A nothing, a nobody, a less than ZERO. I read his "apology", poor poor abusive dear. This one made me do it, that one pushed me to it. It's all about HIM.

Listen Baldwin, I have a kid. I've been through a divorce. I've NEVER spoken to her the way you talk to your daugheter, I have never HIT her, called her a name or bullied her in anyway. By all accounts, the Court's first exposure to the tape was on TMZ.

I've not heard of the Court not taking action on any of the many many issues and pieces of evidence Kim and Alec have brought before it over the years.

I don't know that an 11 year old is capable of sending this tape to TMZ on her own - seems to me she'd need some help. If Kim assisted with this then I :clap: :clap: her!! Ireland must have been just terrified after hearing "I'm gonna straighten your a$$ out".

This is one bully that needs some serious therapy imo.

No law I'm aware of. Once something is this public, it can be used over and over again - and it has been - by the media and any number of individuals. Ireland goes through it every time someone plays it on a news broadcast or the radio, writes its content in a paper or on a website or quotes it (as we are doing here) or puts it onto their cell phone or IPod.

This is just one of the reasons that making its contents public is so very damaging to her.
