All things Prince William & Kate Middleton

Talk about pressure. What happens if the kid doesn't want to be a King? :scared:
Apparently Kate signed a contract agreeing to do all this... but the baby didn't...
Can he "opt out" when he gets older? For lack of a better term.

No one can tell what political and personal changes the intervening years will bring, but the baby can be expected to become the head of state of 16 countries, including Britain, Australia and Canada, and possibly the head of the Commonwealth, which covers 54 nations.

The child will also eventually become Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Yes, he can opt out of the line of succession when he's older if he so wishes. Edward VIII abdicated after he'd taken the throne because he didn't like the restrictions on his marriage partner, this child can do the same if he doesn't like the deal.

Royal doctor Marcus Setchell said the baby is "Wonderful baby, beautiful baby".

The doctor has left the hospital now.

2000 other beautiful and equally entitled babies will be born today in England and every one of them will work to support Kate and Wills baby and keep him in riches. Yeah! :scared:

Congratulations to new parents everywhere because all our babies are created equally or should be!!

Wonderful news! I'm so glad they got a few hours with the little prince before sharing him with the world.

It also made the time more respectable for me to be watching. :)

Prince William was present during the entire delivery and is spending the night with his wife and son. Per CNN. :)

It's a Royal Baby Boy

Airdate: 07/22/2013

The wait is over!

Kate gave birth to a baby boy at 4:24 pm. The little prince weighed in at eight pounds, six ounces. She was in labor for at least 11 hours, having been rushed to the hospital Monday morning at 5:30 a.m. London time.

Kate and William managed to evade the international media on the six-minute trip from Kensington Palace to St. Mary's Hospital, traveling in two vehicles and using side roads to get there. They entered the hospital through a side entrance in an alley away from the main entrance where mobs of cameramen have been camped out for two weeks.

CBS News London correspondent Elizabeth Palmer is on the scene. She said, “They came in under the radar. Behind me are dozens and dozens of reporters and photographers from all over the world!"

Queen Elizabeth awaited the birth of her great-grandchild at Buckingham Palace...

I don't know about anyone else on here, but I'm exhausted!! Hubby and I are going to have a toast to the new arrival. (Not that he cares, he thinks I'm nuts for getting so wrapped up in things!! :floorlaugh:)

DH asked if he should get a bottle of Champagne on his way home :) I said that wine would be fine as an accompaniment to our shrimp and artichoke pasta.

Great news! Can't wait to hear our future king's name. Memories today of when his Dad was born.

Bless this young family. It was so nice waiting all day for something good to happen-a welcome respite from the usual news. England sure celebrates their royal births! Amazing watching the crowds gather. Was like a trip down memory lane-thinking of Princess Diana, her marriage, the birth of William and Harry. The proud Grandmom is smiling on her loved ones from Heaven-I know William is thinking a lot about her now. She would be so proud of her sons! A new generation begins .
