Kate Middleton and Prince William Reportedly Ask Royal Nanny to Come Out of Retirement

Rebecca Macatee, eonline
Seconds ago

When Prince George isn't with Kate Middleton or Prince William, the royal baby needs to be under the care of someone trustworthy

So, according to a Sunday People report, the new parents are asking William and Prince Harry 's former childhood nanny, 71-year-old Jessie Webb, to come out of retirement to help out with their 7-week-old son.

William and Harry's former nanny was reportedly let go by Princess Diana, but is said to have remained close with the boys in the years afterwards. And while the report claims Jessie is "sorely tempted to help the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, she's concerned about having full-time duties again." ...

Even if Jessie Webb does decide to take the position, the baby will always have his own protection team that are schooled in every possible problem that could befall him. This includes kidnapping and health and well fair education. This child will be so well guarded, as to be expected, that I see no reason for concern.

God bless the Royal Family!

LONDON (AP) — Britain's 3-month-old future monarch, Prince George, was to be christened Wednesday with water from the River Jordan at a rare four-generation gathering of the royal family in London.

George, the son of Prince William and his wife, Kate, will be christened by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace. The infant will wear a replica of an intricate lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter and first used in 1841.

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip plan to attend the event Wednesday, along with Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, Prince Harry and other royals. Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton and her sister Pippa and brother James are also on the guest list.

William and Kate have asked seven people to be godparents to their son, who was born July 22 and is third in line for the British throne...

Prince George's Christening

Prince George Meets His Godparents

LONDON (AP) — Britain's 3-month-old future monarch, Prince George, was to be christened Wednesday with water from the River Jordan at a rare four-generation gathering of the royal family in London.

George, the son of Prince William and his wife, Kate, will be christened by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace. The infant wore a replica of an intricate lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter and first used in 1841.

He arrived at the chapel in his father's arms with his mother by their side, and appeared to wave at his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, although it was really a case of William moving his son's hand up and down.

Kate wore a cream-colored dress and matching hat with her long hair brushed to the side...

I keep reading that a cake tier from the royal wedding will be served at the celebration of Prince George's christening. Now, I have heard of saving a piece of wedding cake to eat on the first wedding anniversary, but I have never heard of saving it so it can be consumed as part of a christening celebration. Is this a European or British tradition, or an exclusively Royal tradition?

What a cute baby!

It is very common here (Australia) to save the top tier for the christening. I did it.

Here's some info:

http://www.theweddingcommunity.com/...ow-to-Preserve-the-Top-Tier-of-a-Wedding-Cake

Traditionally a wedding cake was made of three tiers of boozy rich fruit cake. The bottom layer was cut at the reception and the middle one distributed to guests and well wishers. The top tier of the cake was kept for the christening, and symbolised the connection between the marriage union and birth of the first child.

Nowadays, although it is less common to have an entire wedding cake made in fruit, this tradition of preserving the top tier for the christening or even the first anniversary is still a popular choice for newlyweds.

Traditional fruit cake is the best type of cake to preserve as it has a long shelf life, and unlike most other flavours it tastes better as it matures. If the fruit cake is not going to be eaten within six to nine months, it is best to freeze it to preserve it for longer.

http://weddingcakecreations.com/saving-the-wedding-cake-tradition/

Customarily the top tier of the wedding cake was always saved for serving either on the couple’s first anniversary or at the christening of their first child – whichever came first. Started in England the custom survived for centuries and is still occasionally observed today. However, in the past the wedding cake was a brandy-soaked fruit affair that was easily preserved for long periods of time; besides couples had children almost immediately after marriage so keeping the cake was sensible.

Today, wedding cakes are made from delicious but hard to preserve flavors and fillings and most couples wait at least a year before even thinking about having children so saving the top tier of the wedding cake becomes a harder proposition.

I hate fruit cake and never eat it, so only our top tier was fruit cake - specifically for the christening at a later date. The other tiers were chocolate mud cake.

Why Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton Weren't Named as Prince George's Godparents

Lily Harrison, eonline

Prince George 's christening has left us wondering one thing: Why weren't Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton named as godparents to the royal babe?

While it is true that seven people were chosen by Prince William and Kate Middleton to take on the high honor, we're told not naming siblings as godparents isn't particularly unusual.

According to a palace source, "Godparents are entirely a decision for the parents, like any parent, they chose who they wanted to choose."

Per British tradition, unlike in the States, close relatives are not always the first people considered for the position.

So fret not…it looks as though Harry and Pippa will still be on babysitting duty despite being left out of the elite group...

Prince George Enjoyed a "Lovely" First Christmas, Royal Family Attend Service

Jordana Ossad, eonline

Prince George won't remember his first Christmas, but he enjoyed a memorable and "lovely" day with his family at Sandringham. Four generations of royals gathered for the celebrations at Queen Elizabeth II 's Norfolk estate.

Prince William and Kate Middleton braved the cold temperatures and held hands as they made their way to the annual Christmas service at St. Mary Magdalene Church. The little royal did not attend, but rather stayed warm inside with a nanny...

I think they'll plan the next baby when they get home from the Australia tour. It seems that Duchess Catherine wants a girl, from remarks she's made off- handedly.

I'm thinking William might want his children close together like he and Harry were, if not a bit closer. :)

Speculation that Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton could have a second baby on the way has been quashed after the Royal couple made a trip to a Queenstown winery in New Zealand.

Royal watchers have been scrutinising the Duchess of Cambridge after comments reportedly made by Prince William in the North Island town of Cambridge.

Thank God! I would have had a lot of explaining to do to the prince!

Kate Middleton Dispels Pregnancy Rumors by Taking Shots of Scottish Whiskey With Prince William

Zach Johnson, eonline

Prince George is not getting a sibling anytime soon.

The future King of England's mother, Kate Middleton, dispelled pregnancy rumors by taking shots of whiskey with her husband, Prince William, Thursday. The royals toured Scotland's Glenturret distillery, known for its Famous Grouse whiskey, where the Duke was challenged to try a "wee dram" of 68.9 proof alcohol, straight from the still. "I'll give anything a go, [but] I will probably regret it later," he said...
