Kate Middleton and Prince William's Firstborn: Brits Betting Like Crazy on Name and Gender of Royal Baby

Josh Grossberg, eonline
Seconds ago

Brits can't resist betting on the royal baby.

Wagering experts in the U.K. are in a frenzy taking last-minute bets on everything from what Kate Middleton and Prince William plan to name the third in line to the throne, to whether it'll be a prince or princess , to the color of Pippa Middleton 's dress during her first visit.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has taken more than $45,000 in bets since Kate went into labor and checked into the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's hospital shortly before 6 a.m. local time, and the total betting market has now surpassed $613,000. The online site, however, has suspended betting on the due date...

First world problems: is tired and in need of sleep, but can't go to bed... a foreign duchess in a whole other country, thousands of miles away, is giving birth. :D

I am of the same build as Kate only shorter. For what it's worth I was 22 hours with my first. Kate is very athletic so she may have an easier go. And we wait :please:

I just heard a radio report (WWJ - Detroit) that Kate is hoping to have a completely natural childbirth. I hope she can do it!

My first (only) took less than 6 hours total! No labor room, no pain meds, born 1 hour after arrival at hospital. DH almost missed it while he was admitting me :D

Kate's nearing the 12 hour mark. I hope she's doing well.

Good for you. Glad u made it to Hospital in time and DH too. My second I had bad back labor and was told I would be until at least 7p.m. It was only 10:30 a.m. Anesthetist was about to go over to the other Hospital and would not be able to return if I wanted an epidural later. It was now or never. My Son was born within the hour of getting the epidural. Go figure lol. Hang in there Kate.

Any guesses to time of birth and weight? Since we are "waiting"?

I'll go with 4 p.m. EST. (Sorry Kate) and 6 lbs. something.

In 1982 a room at the private Lindo Wing cost £126.90 a day. Today the fee is at least £5,000 a day. #RoyalBaby

My guess is around 9pm gmt.

Dunno how any of you coped with long labours.

First time my waters went and he was here in 2hours, second time my waters were broken for me and she arrived in an hour. I would be a broken woman if I went 18hours in labour

Not sure exactly when Kate went into labor, but she's been in the hospital for 13 hours. Hope all is going well for the royal couple.

Sharon Osborne just said on "The Talk" that they will give the baby a couple of hours to be sure all is well before any notifications are made. Soooo, the baby could be here already!
