An awful lot of people are spoken to/interviewed in a missing person/murder case, the brief of evidence for court matters as serious as this one are usually enormous

Thanks Brissy, I guess to people like me over 400 statements seems a lot.
But I am guessing that it`s normal?

Cool, we can do it together....I have the time right now to be able to do it so I'll just copy and paste any news ones I see come in 🤬🤬🤬

This waiting is crazy.

Nads, any family there? Are you in???

No family were there. There was at least one person from Brookfield. The sketch artist said he had struck up a conversation with her at the bail hearing. He was mad that GBC had turned his head away from them last time.

Just came out of the court. Judge wasn't happy. The police investigative accountant K. Beckett needs til mid November to give her report!

And then the defence will need all the documents to wade through as well, and that could take another several months.

So next court date is 3rd September.

There was just Mahoney and Boyle and some underlings as the lawyers.

I was sitting next to the sketch artist, and he was pissed as BC didn't even appear on the video link!

Thanks for the on the spot reporting Nads, great job

This is going to a very drawn out case by the sounds of it...the poor sketch artist, he had to leave empty handed

Any BC family there?

There were only about 25 seats for the public! I so felt like I shouldn't have been there.

I felt like I shouldn't have my ipad on, but everyone else did, so if there's a next time I will too!

Nads thanks for going and IMO you should have had an allocated seat as you represent all of us!:rocker:

Gerard Baden-Clay hearing Magistrate "flabbergasted" that a forensic accountant will take four to five months to go through his finances.

Just froM what I have been ale to see from ASIC etc I think that is fair enough, it is an intricate mess. I am sure the QPS are doing it as fast as they can given their resources and constraints.

I got there early so had a great seat. And swapped with the sketch artist so he could see the TV better. Was afraid my red dripping nose and sneezing would get the better of me, but all was OK.

Thank you Nads for on-the-spot reporting and everyone else for updates! Very helpful!

Does it seem to anyone else that the money situation is worse than first thought?

IMO

Does this mean he just waits in his protective cell until 3rd September? If the appeal does not "work"?
would it still mean no contact visits until this time too?

I guess the fact that G is an accountant of sorts, perhaps a very creative one, makes the web very tangled. Then there would be the older BC's finances as well. Boyle mentioned there were reports they were waiting for from other financial and insurance companies too.

Off home now, so offline for a while.

These were my guesses too as soon as I heard there were no obvious injuries. Something to knock out A, and perhaps even the kids so they wouldn't wake up during the night.

I think quite early on there was talk of 'Phenergan' could be another reason why the 'caterpillar bites' - many years ago when mine were little a doctor advised giving phenergan to one so they would sleep through the night (bad head cold) - I had heard horror stories of littlies pacing the floor after taking it - it also used to be recommended as a 'quietener' on long flights

There are more than 350 witness statements contained on a brief of evidence against accused murderer Gerard Baden-Clay.

Lawyers prosecuting the Brisbane father, who allegedly killed his wife Allison in their Brookfield home, have been ordered to hand over the brief by August 20.

Mr Baden-Clay was due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today via video link, but he was ultimately not required to appear.

His solicitor Darren Mahony appeared on his behalf.

Advertisement Mr Baden-Clay was last month charged with murdering his wife Allison Baden-Clay, the mother of their three children.

The real estate agent has been refused bail.

Mrs Baden-Clay's body was found on a Brisbane creek bank 10 days after Mr Baden-Clay reported her missing in April.

Baden-Clay has also been charged with interfering with her body.

More to come ...

Not at all! And every way Boyle tried to make it better the judge seemed to think was stupid :banghead:

Bu surely the judge must realise the task that the prosecution has is huge? Hopefully GBC's lawyers don't walk away feeling smug. Maybe the judge should have said to the lawyers "Why can't your client be more responsible in his financial dealings, and make it easier on the prosecution???

Yep, I think money was a huge issue for GBC. I wonder how much shonky stuff really went on. Goodness, if you can murder your wife, you wouldn't think twice about dodgy financial arrangements. It's so hard not to think "don't trust real estate agents or used car sellers".

I'm not surprised that the Judge is annoyed. Judges rein supreme in THEIR courtrooms and they can be very cranky at times. Judge Judy rules. Wait until the actual trial.

Just froM what I have been ale to see from ASIC etc I think that is fair enough, it is an intricate mess. I am sure the QPS are doing it as fast as they can given their resources and constraints.

Personally I find it unbelievable that the forensic accountant needs all this extra time. Surely this case would have been given top priority and she had other staff working with her to assist with enquiries re finances...

IMO it is to create a longer delay so the QPS can pursue more incriminating evidence against GBC...

Rational, I will try and get a clearer picture rather than the dribs and drabs I am getting. No doubt some of it that I have heard is false.
