Now THAT is an excellent suggestion Alioop... Hot diggety!! Wonder if one of the "clan" or even GBC himself moved it? That could certainly explain the apparent "two places at once" thing.

Apparently a witness saw a blue car closely following a white 4x4 near the bridge the night Ali went missing.

Was this car the the same 'friend's blue car that GBC crashed ?

Who owned the car he crashed ?

Was 'this' friend an accomplice ?

Did this friend live near Fig Tree Pocket tower ?

This may be a bit too far out there....however...

Could the phone have ended up in this car 'that' night, then went out of the area for 13 hours (in the car) then came back to the 'home' area for GBC to borrow for his crash ?

Thank you Zim for getting back to sleuthing. Like Doc I have not been comfortable with the recent comments.

The police allege that GBC transported Allison's body in the captiva so if the 2 cars that an eyewitness says they saw are connected to this case, then it is likely that the blue car was the silver BC captiva.

I think I know (but can't say) who owns the blue car that he crashed and that person does not live in Fig tree Pocket according to my looking up white pages. They do live in the Western suburbs though but I don't think they would normally drive near the FTP tower .

I hope the last few days were not too hard on the Dickies and the girls. Hoping the pressies and get togethers were exciting enough to distract Allison's daughters from sadder thoughts.

Extra special thoughts of 3 beautiful little girls and the Dickie family. :grouphug:

Someone has said their phone's connected to the Figtree pocket tower as they have driven along the Western Freeway.

Sitting here at our beach house my phone is showing different towers all the time. So I guess unless we have a phone tech
to explain the workings of the towers, we dont really know for sure.

Using black humor is a common coping mechanism in such horrible circumstances. Having to picture him at all is something most of us would like to avoid.

Hi Amee - yes, the Western Freeway becomes the Centenary Highway, and it goes right past that FTP phone tower. Once you turn the bend in the freeway heading towards the Moggill Rd turnoff heading outbound, you'd come into the range of the FTP tower. Not far past that, as you pass under the Fig Tee Pocket Rd overpass, you'll see the tower on the right in a clump of trees. Big tower, too. Near the park and soccer fields.

And yes - some input from a telecom techy would be very valuable in trying to sort out some of the information we have.

Hi Maxymoo :) Yes, I agree totally re the black humour - we use it a lot in a surgical setting! But my point above was more aimed at the posting of it on a public site, which I think may well be prejudicial as well as in questionable taste.

In fact, I have a very large stock of black humour... :great: But for private use only :blushing:

"But I do think that having a laugh at GBC's expense, and making jokes about his incarceration over Christmas is somewhat poor taste, and to be honest, makes me a little uncomfortable."

Doc I introduced the topic and wasn't having a laugh. Have I done something wrong?

Had occasion to go by Wacol twice in the last 24 hours. It made me sad.

Sorry Poss - I wasn't getting at anyone in particular. Just that the "joke" about GBC spending Christmas inside was starting to get a bit carried away, which I found uncomfortable. No offence meant to anyone in particular :please:

Could it be that Allison's phone was thrown from a car travelling on the freeway in the vicinity of the FTP tower and it didn't move from there?

Totally agree with this post and am sure the girls made it through a very tough day with their beautiful grandparents as well as Allisons siblings. It would have been so very hard for Mr and Mrs Dickie but I know they would have put on a very brave and happy face for those little sweethearts. It's hard for me to think of them on Christmas Day without their Mum, and yes even without a father anymore, and their worlds turned upside down.

MOO.

This seems to be the most likely scenario. I would really like the phone to have been found ( and the police are keeping quiet) or that they have enough information about calls and texts and Internet connections from the phone provider to work out when was the last time Allison used the phone
If all the police are saying (second bail hearing) is that the phone was connected to the Internet I am hoping they have more information than just that ( playing their cards close I hope )

Perhaps when it was thrown it switched on - I don't lock my phone ever and have been known to make random calls so perhaps it was thrown and connected to the Internet

Yes but how far along the Western will the FTP tower "ping" thats what I was trying to point out!

I think the "connected to the internet" bit is most likely to be just the automatic checking for email, or something similar. Or location services for something that just happens automatically, and is running in the background - like Google Maps, or the "Find My iPhone" app or similar. There are quite a few apps that just connect to internet data (as opposed to phone calls) and that do it automatically in the background.

Doesn't need someone to trigger the connection in most cases. Of course, somebody using something like the browser, or Google search app, etc etc would also trigger an internet data connection.

My point being that there doesn't NEED to be a theory about somebody using the phone - it can connect all by itself.

Ahh - yes, good point. I would think that the FTP tower would start to kick in once you pass under the Waverly Road overpass, and then go round that long sweeping bend to the left (heading outbound). 300-400 metres before the Moggill Road turnoff I'd guess the FTP tower would be starting to be "seen" by a phone. By the time you cross over Moggill Road, I reckon you'd be well and truly in the FTP range.

Just guesswork on my part though - anyone know or married to a Telstra tech? ;)
