Ahhh Olivia. I'm learning as I go with these court cases. I thought the gaol term for Gittany was to be handed down yesterday but no we've heard every man & his dog, even Gittany himself telling what a great bloke he really really is.
So, I'm already hearing Olivia up there saying her piece & I can't see why not GBC wouldn't let everyone know what a pillar of society he is too. Ho hum I think he'd love to take the stand and tell everyone he was a liddle bit hurt.

They'll get you .... As part of the investigation, Baden-Clay also provided police with an extensive curriculum vitae, revealing his past schooling and work history.

I notice that he didn't mention the Baden-Powell connection....... maybe he figured that everyone would know.

Seriously, you seem to have much more insight - even if it IS in hindsight - into how Allison and GBC should have been handled, than the counsellor they saw.

I'm far from perfect with clients, but I guess what I do take pride in is simply empathy and observation. I do think some practitioners want to diagnose and treat way too quickly, instead of just simply listening and really understanding where a client is coming from. That is why I was a bit shocked at how quickly Carmel moved (pushed?) GBC into the homework exercise. Even if she couldn't see through his lies (which can be hard sometimes) resistance comes from somewhere.

Once the prosecution has rested its case, it entirely up to Gerard , under advisement for which he pays for, when he testifies, or if.. but I think he will. He doesn't have the opportunity to testify while the Crown makes it's case for his conviction. ... the Crown wouldn't call on Gerard to make its own case. I'd think he'd appear last, once all the defence witnesses have testified, this is the usual thing.... possibly he could testify twice on a matter of conflict.....

His defence would know exactly what the Crown is putting forward and strategy would be worked out...no surprises in that context.. so he'd know, going in , whats coming up.

I still think that come July, its not improbable that he will plead guilty.... its not a long shot... there is a discount in sentencing in it, a discount for saving taxpayers money, the courts time, etc, saving the family of Alison more stress... all these things are considered in that particular event...

and that's ok too... when he is sentenced, the entire body of the crime will be delineated and re constructed towards the weighting given to the sentence.... we'll get the guts of it both ways.

I doubt that he will plead guilty to murder because there is no cause of death. He might say she fell over and died and he panicked and took her to the bridge. That would my bet

Breaking .... and what about him keeping quiet for 10 days while all the Police and SES risked their lives looking for Allison. In that case to me, that should be a charge in itself.
Panicking is one thing, but ............. Nah! can't see that being very well received. Not coming clean at any stage (still not) denotes a real criminal mind.

What I am meaning LadyBird1 is if he pleads at the Trial: as was suggested, 'He might say she fell over and died and he panicked and took her to the bridge.' ..... the admission would then come to light. It would then show that he had just gone to ground while all the searching was going on. By doing that he was concealing everything that he had done.

He even made inquiries about the Insurance Policy before Allison's body was found.

My reason for asking is I was just having a read on the CMC "star chamber" and it says they have the power to curtail and punish silent or uncooperative witnesses.
Could members of the BC family have been a party to one of these hearings.

I think not. Apart from putting his foot in his mouth (as well as his rolling tongue) he would have to tell the truth, which does not seem to be his strong suite (Mustard Jacket excepted)

On a more serious note...
The Relationships 'professional' may well have empowered Allison to be more confident in confronting and dealing with his admitted infidelity. This together with her new hairdo and the tacit 'approval' to vent and no kids around would have made GBC uncomfortable and probably angry that night.

Adding to this cocktail of stress and emotion would be the financial pressures and looming deadlines.

GBC was loosing control of Allison and was probably worried he could not contain the fall out of a confrontation between Allison and Toni at the conference.

With hindsight it is clear to see the doom clouds rolling in on that fateful night.

I don't think the murder was premeditated. (considered by Bruce Overland as a way out, quite possibly)

Suicide - No.
A Stranger murdering Allison - No.
Occam's Razor - Yes.
(The simplest explanation is usually the right one)

CV's invariably read squeaky clean, don't they. After every item in the list I reckon there needs to be a "circumstances that created the change in this person's life at this point in time".

It was reported early on in MSM that detectives travelled to Townsville. I would imagine that would have been an outreach visit to OW.

STRANGEWORLD 'anything for a quiet life' we've all heard that saying. In the several years before Allison's murder, do you think she just became numb and overwhelmed by GBC, debts and his family? Is it a survival mode to block it out? Head in the sand?
What that poor girl went through was absolutely cruel. To hear of the affair at the school canteen? To know your employees of the company you own know about the affair and have kept it quiet. I cringe for Allison! The statement from one of the salesmen said they were all out when Allison walked in and GBC & TMcH quickly broke loose of each other. Allison was part owner of that firm, can you imagine when the penny dropped and she realised the contempt and disrespect that was dished out to her & remembering the sideways glances or the abrupt silence if she were to walk in? His family knew and condoned it, they worked there!

It' a wonder Allison didn't kill him!
Knowing what I know now, I would have cheered for her.
