'Recording of evidence' is in my diary as being the next event - tomorrow 24th Feb. Is this just a legal pow wow with the magistrate?

MM my understanding of the recording of evidence tomorrow is for any vunerable witnesses to give evidence via CCTV from a separate room within the courthouse. The girls and any other child witnesses may well be giving evidence to the court . They will answer questions asked by the lawyers and won't be able to see GBC, if he is in fact there.

I expect there will be a non publication order in place and rightly so. The evidence collected tomorrow will be for the trial in June.

Alioop where are you???

That sounds like the Child Witness procedure. They'll be in a separate room, with CCTV, microphone and a Court Appointed Child Witness Support person present in the room with them.

Wish me luck - I'm going to start reading Allison's threads from #1 tomorrow - aiming for 1/2 to 1 thread a day, give or take.

I've forgotten too many of the finer details of the facts, and need a refresher. If anyone wants me to keep a look out for anything in particular, let me know on here or via private message.

Guess I'm going to need that popcorn......

I'm here Makara. I was just checking the law list for tomorrow and couldn't see any Baden-clay matter listed so not sure why.

I agree but would think the court room would be open to the public.

All the best Strangeworld. You have set yourself a mammoth task! It will take you hours. I am sure you will find the journey interesting though......

Tell me about it!! I'm just getting too frustrated with myself when I try to think back to things that happened, and want to be a bit more on the ball when the trial starts. I'm thinking it probably will end up taking me till day 1 of the trial to get through the threads!!

It will be fascinating though - not looking forward to reading the posts before Allison was found - knowing our hope was going to be so terribly undermined, and that the actions of certain people associated with the case would turn out to be such a shock.

SW I have re-read up until the body was found. My next goal is to re-read up until the arrest. Heavy stuff.

Poss, looks like you've done the hard yards already. Great job!!

Re-reading must bring up all those feelings of frustration, anger, disbelief, confusion that we all felt in the early days. Not looking forward to it but just feel drawn to do it before the trial.

It is just so sad. Be gentle with yourself. I think until G was arrested there was always that worry about whether the little girls were doing OK. Things were so ambiguous.

Oh no! Hopefully it's listed in the morning or perhaps it's a closed court?

Strangeworld, I've also read through the old threads over the last few months. It becomes rather frustrating at times, in view of what we know today. Having said that, while reading through the threads it was always in the back of mind that GBC has now been arrested and refused bail twice. My thinking was, and still is that the investigation team must have a very strong case, albeit circumstantial, against GBC.

Forefront in my mind was the turmoil that the Dickie's must have, and are still going through with the death of Allison and it is heartbreaking. Lastly but most importantly there are Allison's little girls in the midst of all this chaos, lies and absolute horror. My thoughts continually turned to them when I was reading through the threads. Wondering how they were and if they understood what had happened to their mother. Do they now understand? Sometimes I hope they do but most times I hope that it will all be gently explained to them when they are older.

Reading through all of the old threads was a pretty rough journey at times. But then there are also the snippets of humour in some of the posts. IMO (and some will disagree) our unique Aussie humour in the face of adversity is a coping mechanism and there is absolutely no disrespect directed towards Allison and her family.

Strangeworld, in case you're not aware, we also have a Media Timeline thread where all, or most of the MSM links are stored. Click on the link at the bottom of this message to access the thread. It may help to clarify some of what you read in the various threads, although some of those links are now defunct. Remember Google is you friend.

I've said all along the children are the key to this puzzle. I just hope they come out of the other side of it OK.

Thanks so much Makara. Another brave soul willing to delve back into the mess that it was at the beginning. And I remember those little moments of humour - I think it was just total disbelief that the humour helped us cope with (who mentioned kopper logs?). And the girls - they are getting older now. Even if they know what has happened, it must still be so confusing for them. I truly hope the love of others can override some of their pain and grief.

Thanks also for the reminder about the media thread - I haven't been keeping saved versions of the MSM articles but I might do that as I read through - it's a shame when they disappear.

I have been looking for an MSM link but that seems to have vanished.
I was thinking about the children and their not being allowed to speak until debriefing.
If memory serves me correctly, that debriefing was nightly, and instigated by the BC seniors. All this in the early days.
In light of all that has been revealed in the interim, that debriefing has sinister connotations.
Was also thinking about white-washing, brushing away evidences, and attempting to re-write history.

LadyBird, I re-read about the "de-brief" yesterday. I found it in the application for first bail docs posted by Ali

The de-brief of the children has always given me goosebumps

Thankyou so much Amee. It is at the end of page 5 of 7 of First bail application charge sheet and summary.
Police have obtained a witness statement from a woman who cared for the children on 26th April 2012. One of the children, Sarah, stated that , "I am sorry I know I am not allowed to say anything until the debrief at night." The witness had not heard the Baden Clay children use a term such as "debrief" before.

It is astounding to go back over past threads. Just the bail hearing documents alone documents appear astounding. Particularly in view of what has come to light over the past nearly two years.

And for some strange reason Simon Gittany, his antics and his family's antics appears to have become inextricably entwined with the whole BC story. Innocent at all costs plus a semi plausible explanation for everything incriminatiing. That "innocence" over-rides any sorrow or even a show of sorrow for the departed soul.

Firstly, thanks Amee for the link to the bail application!:seeya:

Secondly - that is really serious if the BC's were 'debriefing' the girls!

I began my psych career in child protection and subsequently had to deal with numerous disclosures from children. It was CRUCIAL not to probe or question them in any leading way - rather we were trained to listen and be supportive but neutral. If we were found to have 'led' them into memories in any way, it wouldn't make it through court and they remained with the abusers.

All the research indicates that children in particular, can be easily led and manipulated in such situations. It is alarmingly easy to plant false information in their minds, particularly if they are already traumatised (as ABC's daughter's would have been) and if they are wanting to please the people 'debriefing' them. And it would be natural to want to please your grandparents......

That is truly alarming news!!!
