I'm following the Oscar Pistorius case at the moment as like Allison's case you tend to forget all that has happened in the beginning.I've been going over some of the old news footage this week and can't believe how Gerard and his family behaved in the early days when Allison was missing let alone when her body was finally found. Cant wait for the trial to begin.

Yes. They looked really shabby. The granny pash on main stream media was unprecedented.

1) Before Ms McHugh gave her fifth statement to police, he said, detectives issued her with a warning over her failure to disclose a phone call she had with Mr Baden-Clay.

2)Detective Sergeant Gavin Pascoe, said Mr Baden-Clay became a person of interest very early in the police investigation.

3) Mr Baden-Clay that he suffered a bad reaction to a caterpillar.
The court heard that the 42-year-old father of three told Taringa general practitioner Dr Renu Kumar on April 21 he had scratched himself after a caterpillar fell on him while he was in the garden.
Professor Zalucki told the court he went to the scene where the "caterpillar incident" allegedly occurred.
"I could not find any [caterpillar] nests on those Acacia trees,".

.exactly one month away now

Baden-Clay hearing leaves observers stunned
1) Details emerge of a troubled marriage, a depressed wife, a cheating husband and a business in demise. The sensational claims draw intermittent gasps of shock from the courtroom audience.
2) He tells the court that Mr Baden-Clay was in dire financial strife, with looming debts, when he reported his wife missing on April 20, last year.
3) Mr Baden-Clay stood to gain $975,000 from his wife’s insurance and superannuation policies in the event of her death.
4) He had rekindled his affair with former staffer Toni McHugh shortly before his wife’s disappearance.
5) ‘‘In fact it had recommenced in an email to Ms McHugh when he pledged he would be separated by July 1,’’ Mr Boyle notes.
‘‘Those two aspects, either alone or in combination, provide circumstantial motive for murder.’’
6) Photographs of ‘‘red, angry’’ scratches on Mr Baden-Clay’s cheek, neck, chest and shoulder are shown to the court. These draw hushed gasps and quiet murmurs from the public gallery.Fourteen photographs in total are projected onto large screens.
7) Mr Broom describes the affair as complex.
"It was difficult to judge whether he was leaving his wife to be with Toni, or he was leaving Toni to be with his wife," he recalls.
He says he can remember one conversation the lovers had in Sydney about needing a larger car to accommodate Mr Baden-Clay’s three daughters and Ms McHugh’s two sons.
8) "But he was dishonest with money?" Mr Davis says.
"Yes," Mr Broom.

As much as Im looking forward to GBC's Trial Im really nervous about it.
IMO he is locked up where he belongs and should stay there but I also have a sickly feeling in my belly that the opposite may happen. :scared:

Amee, I feel the same sometimes but he's in prison and still in prison.
I really hope the police have things on him we aren't aware of.

I'd love to see another arrest, GBC needs company.

Amee & TGY, no matter what the outcome, he can't escape what he has done, even if he tries to convince himself, he will never be free in his own head. Just for a minute, imagine if he does get off. What would he do? Would TM have him back? What would he do for money? I think he is so far down the ladder now that no one will want to know him other than his family. And even then I wonder how long they will support him?

We all have to have faith in our justice system. JUSTICE FOR ALLISON and her family.

Agreed. Our Justice system, our Supreme Court of Criminal Law is the legitimate place for the prosecution and defense to contest this serious charge of murder. Albeit, not perfect at times, it is the only system we have. The community is outraged and we must trust the justice system to call this alleged murderer to account. IMO. There is no other 'legal' alternative is there?

I'd like to agree but TMcH is apparently working around Sydney. I thought she would've been treated like a bucket of doggie doo but the unemployable is employed.
I can't find the old link, maybe she's using another name.

But then I read something like this.......c'mon!

Wife died on night Baden-Clay promised to leave

THE night Brisbane real estate agent Gerard Baden-Clay is alleged to have murdered his wife, he promised his mistress he would leave the marriage for her, a court has heard.

Just discovered my auto-reload WS page had jumped to a new link, so I've just been catching up on the posts on this new thread. I've only been checking every couple of weeks or so, until the trial, which is 1 month away now.

I suspect that there will be a LOT of evidence presented at the trial that we haven't seen or heard yet, covering a lot of the questions that have been asked on here. Personally, I'm still totally puzzled by all the attention paid to the Kenmore Roundabout, but that's just me.

There's a whole new building on the block of land between the old B-C house and the childcare centre - and going by the new paint job to match, I'm pretty sure it's an extension of the childcare centre. Would love to know if the contractors had been asked to keep an eye open on the earthworks, for items such as phones, and stuff... ;)

Couple of close witnesses who have already appeared at the bail hearings have their houses on the market, but are still there at the moment.

I still have questions about our politician friend who claims he heard those blood-curdling screams all the way up where he lives - yet nobody in between seems to have heard them. The only others who heard the shouting and yelling were close neighbours. And lending a phone? I can't help wondering just what role that one played in the whole situation - more than we currently know, I suspect.

I've been talking to a few people about the case, who are close to it, one of whom is dealing with another case I'm involved in from a professional viewpoint. There is, I gather, a fair amount of confidence on the prosecution side of things that although all the evidence is circumstantial, they have enough. However, trials have been known to take strange twists and turns, especially when steered by devious defence lawyers.... (and I suppose prosecution lawyers too).

I gather there has been a LOT of crossing of Ts and dotting of Is happening during this prolonged wait. The question of the glove tip should be answered at the trial if the matter is raised. But it also begs the question as to where a perpetrator would get that type of rubber glove, as worn by Forensic and Scene of Crime personnel, at that time of night? Unless it was all preplanned - and what would be the point of gloves anyway? Unless it was just to keep hands clean? But as I said - most people wouldn't have ready access to those gloves at that time....

OK - enough thoughts from me for tonight. I'll check in more frequently as the trial gets closer :)

Long time doctor ...
I don't recall having seen this video of interview of Bruce Flegg. Worth a watch ...

Just a bit of info... I saw The BC seniors out walking in my street today. They both looked happy and healthy, both had put on a bit of weight since last I saw them.

A little snippet of visiting day.

The strip-search on the way in and on the way out.

Each item of clothing shaken and examined.

The ritual: run fingers through hair, beard, show armpits, behind ears, open mouth, “lift your tackle”, sole of right foot, left foot, spread your cheeks.

That was a great read, thanks for sharing, I hope I get to read part two. What has our justice system become when the prisoners are treated the same as the accusers. Wrong wrong wrong! Sorry, off topic.

Mothers Day.

I will be celebrating soon but I'm thinking of Allison & her 3 little ones for this moment & I'll say a prayer for justice. Only weeks to go now.
I know Allison's children are in a wholesome environment and given all the support and understanding for the children mourning their mother today.
Special thoughts and wishes for Mrs Dickie, you mourn your daughter today. You rock in my eyes. A very special mum indeed!
The children possibly seeing the BC grandmother & seeing dad in gaol too, sad day all round.

What today means to GBC.? Remorse, regret or denial?
(Remembering he told councillor it was all Allison's fault)
Or selfishly just looking forward to seeing his mother and the gifts she has to bring him.

Happy Mother's Day to all mums on WS
YOU MAKE MOTHERS DAY TO ME 24/7.

Just a quick refresher.

https://screen.yahoo.com/videos-for-you/baden-clay-stand-trial-murder-083044407.html

This time next month the trial will be underway and like Doc Watson I'm also very puzzled and oh so curious about that modsnip of a roundabout! :banghead: Was NBC really sitting in the bus shelter or was it a case of mistaken identity? If it was in fact NBC, why was he there? Or did something else occur at the roundabout that was significant enough for the police to stage a re-enactment at a particular time and on a Thursday night? I just hope that the mystery of the roundabout is revealed quickly so that I don't have to think about it anymore!

Doc, you also mentioned the fingertip of the glove that fell out of Allison's jumper during the autopsy. In the autopsy report [ame=http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9048050&postcount=4]at this link[/ame] the Coroner stated the following.

"Access to the body was difficult, and two police officers were winched down with the assistance of the QFRS. I did not go down to the body. Police officers undertook some sampling while I waited on the bridge. The body was in thick mud, which appeared difficult to walk in. The two police officers, with the assistance of a QFRS officer, rolled the body onto a tarpaulin, placed it on a stretcher and winched it up onto the bridge at approximately 1655hrs. As far as I could determine, the extrication of the body appeared to have been conducted very carefully, and without significantly effecting the position of the limbs or clothing.

I examined the body on the bridge, under a marquee, with lighting provided by the QPS. The body was clothed in what appeared to be a jacket which was up around her head and neck region. Her hands were entangled within this garment. As this garment could potentially have been a ligature, I did not remove it from the neck or remove the hands from the garment.

As the previously described jumper was being examined a fingertip of a cream coloured glove fell out. It is not clear if this was present within the jumper, or may represent some contamination at the scene. It was not present as a result of contamination within the mortuary."

I feel it is more likely that the glovetip came from GBC and not the recovery crew. The two police officers who were winched down to the scene would have been wearing strong protective gloves as part of the rescue gear and not just rubber gloves. (OH&S and all that). I'm hoping that the origin of the glovetip is also cleared up very quickly at the trial.

27 days and counting.

Justice Lucy McCallum said Gittany had shown no remorse and that there was no prospect of rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation.
Implies restoration after illness, or bringing back to positive condition.
If Gittany had showed something (anything) of remorse, then there might have been some prospect of rehabilitation.
But no, sweet RL and her cohorts sorted all that out. Nailed his coffin good and proper. He was "Innocent" and to hell with those who said otherwise.
(Forget domestic violence and all that stuff.)

Now we have GBC, showing no remorse. And vigorously defending the Innocent party bit. His cohorts or supporters may yet be the final nail in his coffin.
Rehabilitation not an option, due to his "Innocence."

You can't show remorse if you're saying you didn't do it. Whether you are guilty or not, if you've pleaded not guilty, then you can't show remorse.

As it gets closer to the trial I do wonder about the explanation for a lot of things and I hope the trial will bring answers. I'll come back with a list of thoughts and questions.

I hope some more of the original posters from the time closer to the murder. Some of the discussions then we're amazing. I'm going to try to go to the trial on a few days.

I remember GBC going to a pharmacy to buy some medicament. Maybe that sort of gloves are obtainable there ? Or doesn't fit the time??
