It's nice to see that they are willing to follow leads NOW as opposed to when she actually first disappeared and they kept claiming they had information she had run off to Mexico. :furious:

.

In all reality, likely Amber was long dead before they'd have a chance to start looking. I mean, they started looking for Chelsea right away and that didn't help to find her alive.

The whole lot of them ought to be fired..

There is A LOT of anger in Escondido over this - especially in how differently Chelsea's case was handled - and technically, Escondido begins just on the north side of the lake where Chelsea was jogging...but it's a night and day difference.

It's the topic of conversation in Escondido that comes up as soon as either the names Chelsea or Amber come up this past week.

And I'm sure it will be even more so now.

I really don't know what LE could have done differently. They had zero clues in this case. They didn't even know JAG was in Escondido at the time. At least with Chelsea they had a location to look at, some clothes with evidence. They had nothing with Amber. There was no way they could have known in a million years that she was where she was found.

Agree.

Even if it would not have helped Amber, parents need to know everything possible was done for their missing child.

Amber's family is an example to all of us. They did their own searches and hired their own dogs to track Amber. They did not get very much support from LE.

City councilman in Escondido just implied (on KFMB) -almost stated outright - that JAG IS tied to Amber's disappearance.

News at 5 pm

KUSI (9/51):

Acted on a lead, but would not disclose where that came from. More at 6 pm (they were doing just a brief update again)

KFMB 8:

Discovery of remains were at a VERY early hour on Saturday. (Her dad knew while speaking at Kit Carson yesterday they're saying - or that it was her minus confirmation from the ME)

In a "rugged" and "remote" part of Pala.

Her family is thankful to the volunteers who helped them (the family).

Found NORTH of the actual reservation.

They will not comment on the tie to JAG. Took no questions.

Any information on whether JAG is tied to Amber's disappearance would be "inappropriate" to discuss at this time.

Presser tomorrow with more details on where exactly her remains were found.

Reiterated that the dogs led the family to the Pala reservation earlier on to the library ON the reservation but that Amber was NOT on the reservation but north of it.

Details tomorrow.

Oh God...... how many more?

Are there other missing people from this area???

They had a sighting of Amber walking to school, alongside an adult male. Why was that discounted?
Did the "sightings" of her let LE off the hook, and they could say she was a runaway?

To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement. To raise a girl chid to be 'grist for the mill' of a predator has become an everyday occurrance. Who's going to take responsibility for raising sons that do this? Are their parents just giant lunks? I could go on and on and on.

I am very familiar with this area. Every Saturday I take my dog Chance sheep herding off of Lake Wohlford Road, then we drive up the back roads to Palomar Mtn to hike and then come back through back roads to Pala to pick up fresh oranges and avocados (10 for $10!) It would have to be off of a main road in my opinion because the land is either Orange and Avocado Groves or very rugged steep terrain. Someone would have to be exceptionally strong and have incredible balance to carry a body through this terrain.

On March 1, 2009 Amber's mom first mentioned Amber being seen with the young male.

I don't believe the police ever asked for the public's help to ID him.

The truck video was not released to the public until April.

The article I just read said she was last seen with a boy who doesn't fit JAG's description.
"Two witnesses who knew Amber saw her walking on North Broadway near the football field with a tall, dark-skinned boy described as “doughy.” "

Such a tragic ending to a beautiful young girl's life - my heart felt condolences to all those who love and care for Amber - may Amber rest in peace and may the family find peace in their hearts.

SoCalSleuth, I'm not sure what you might find on those hills we were talking about, but let me know what you find if you decide to take a look some day. Glad Amber's body has been found. May their family heal.

Thanks for your willingness to look.

God bless you our beloved Amber.
I don't have much time to post, but I check in here often hoping to see the title "Found Safe" on your thread.
I can't explain it, but there is something so precious about you that touched our hearts so deeply. For me personally, maybe it is your love of animals. My heart breaks for your mom who never gave up and is so strong and courageous. You must have been just like her.
It seems you probably just made a mistake and trusted the wrong person never knowing the danger you were in at the time.
Love and prayers to Amber's family and all those here who worked so hard to find answers and solve her case.
Love,
Kelly
