I agree with the both of you, but I also see the possibility of JR throwing Patsy under the bus if it starts to look like his arrest is imminent. All he would have to do is claim a death bed confession and profess to know nothing of her involvement till that time. Could anyone sue him for things he did not know at the time? I have no idea about the law suits, but it is my opinion that he will give her up before he gets charged with the whole shebang. I also don't believe he is innocent in this crime but we all know how the R's are, not a one of them will go down if they can pin it on someone else.
That's an interesting scenario, joeskidbeck.
Maybe JR could sidestep perjury in this scenario. But he would still have to worry about lawsuits, because it would be easy to challenge him and in a civil suit the plaintiff would only have to prove he was more likely lying about that than not: 51% or better chance of JR lying about having any suspicion of Patsy's guilty wouldn't be hard to meet in such a circumstance, do you think?
And then there would be the issue of allowing PERV Karr to be arrested and hauled back to this country without a peep from JR. I'd think PERV Karr might be filing his own lawsuit on that one. Especially since Wood and Patsy's sister Pam went on TV declaring, or at least implying, VICTORY! Wood worked for John, after all.
Then there are the statements JR said to Lacy when she "exonerated" the Ramseys: "We have always known we're not guilty" or something like that.
What about all the money it cost Boulder to arrest PERV Karr, not to mention, national and international agencies? To do those additional "touch" DNA tests, etc.?
Oh my gosh! And then there is the WORST! John would have admitted HE LIED TO OPRAH AND BARBARA WALTERS!!! Oh, the HORROR!!
Anyhow, as you know, all these would pale in comparison to John's troubles if he were in fact going to be arrested for the murder or some part in the murder or cover up.
But here's the thing there is just no getting around: until someone is actually charged with the crime in Colorado, no one can be charged with obstruction in the investigation of that crime. Alex Hunter banked on this law, as much as he obstructed the investigation himself.
