Analysis of Casey's Clothes and Body Language

If they are going to dress Casey up in a suit, they could choose better. There are a lot of great suits out there for sale that would look fabulous for a female Casey's age. I know this because I was only 1 year away from finishing law school at age 22 and I had no trouble finding them for interviews and, right after law school, when I worked as a staff attorney at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. (READ: very formal!)

Jurors will be considering her appearance, including her clothing, and her mannerisms/demeanor. In Louisiana, we have what are called "exit polls" wherein the jurors are polled and sometimes are allowed to provide reasoning, etc., for their decision. You'd be surprised how many times we hear of these things so many WSers think are unimportant. (Note: I'm not saying I agree with this fact, just stating the fact.)

Casey isnt choosing her suits like you were able to. Baez or someone else is picking them
They obviously have ZERO idea on sizing, or then again Sizing is pretty cr*p these days anyway when what might fit you in one size does not in another style of the same size..

If the Jury is made up of people like many on here and other message boards then Casey is most definitely going to be judged on her appearance at TRIAL and not the facts

DISCLAIMER: I am no supporter of KC.

Having said that, I want to comment on the pen incident. I read the thread about the hearing this morning before actually going and watching it. I was looking for the moment when she "flirtatiously tosses her pen at JB". When I got to the point of seeing it, I saw something completely different than most of the posters. JB is out of the cameras view, and (IMO) his pen ran out of ink or quit working or something. She noticed and tossed her pen his way. Instead of taking her pen, he picked up a 3rd pen and started using it. She took her pen back, and he put the lid back on his original pen.

I believe that she just made a nice gesture to him and it looked bad because we didn't see him scribbling or whatever to show that he needed a new pen.

I agree she was a little too happy to be there, but wanted to give my viewpoint in reference to the pen.

***ETA: I went back and re-watched the video from WFTV.com and started at the 7 minute mark.

7:04 You can no longer see JB's paper.
7:07 She watches what he is doing.
7:09 She tosses her pen over (smiling).
7:13 He ignores her pen (smiling) picking up a 3rd pen.
7:20 She takes her pen back.
7:24 He puts the lid back on the 1st pen.

Just wanted to give the reasoning behind my post.

huh wow, cuz that is so not what I saw. And Jose is not totally out of the camera's view.

With a respectful nod to the moderators, I promise not to get catty about what I saw today.

I've only breezed through the posts here. ITA with what so many have said: someone else picked her wardrobe. I believe she did the very best with what she had. On the other hand, it didn't do her justice. I'm certainly no fashion Guru (how I keep hoping Stacy & Clinton will show up at my door!), but I felt that she looked much like a child playing "dress-up," and that paired with her silly antics (w/JB) was, well . . . silly.

While I understand & nod with agreement with those who have said her looks DO NOT matter, only her actions, I still agree more with those who have said that (like it or not), it does matter. I don't speak for every individual person, but I do believe that as a society this is, in general, how we think. It is, in fact, valid to discuss her appearance; think of this as a dress rehearsal - literally and figuratively - for the REAL JURY.

Lastly I want to draw attention to another thread regarding her psychological profile. Sorry to be so non-specific, and no link. I'm just not organised & I think my brain fell asleep halfway through BSG (my favorite show - I'm a geek!). Anyway, there are some riviting discussing about how she maybe tends to mimic the personality traits of her boyfriends, or in this case her lawyer. Maybe this conservative look is her way of bonding to JB.

Thanks for your attention & time!

Unfortunately, it seems that in our society people are judged by their appearance, clothing, hair, etc. I read somewhere that if you are on a job interview, the interviewer will decide within the first minute if they like you or not. I think the image KC portrays in court will be a factor but I hope it will not be the main point, and that the evidence will be the deciding factor. I think it is appropriate for her to dress conservatively to court, as anyone would for court or a job interview, etc. She should also act appropriately and respectfully as anyone would in church or court as well.

Please, Please, tell me you are KIDDING?

ITA !! I could care less wtf she is wearing- she could care less that her daughter is dead (even if she didn't kill her) and that her father WANTS to be dead!

I agree. I feel sorry for her parents if they were watching her on tv. They kept away likely to spare KC from having to face them only to possibly have watched her on tv appearing to act like as long as her parents are out of sight, they are out of mind. Maybe that will be the biggest wake-up call of all.

I know first hand appearances in court do matter. At 22 I was a crime victim and the SA office said something I will never forget but at the time I did not understand what they meant. They said I was a perfect victim of crime when it came to trial, I was college educated, owned a home, newly married to a man I did not live with prior to marriage, and most importantly I chose to wear modest button down dresses or skirts to all court appointments or appearances. I was raped by a man in my own home, who escaped from prison and as the victim still had to be conscience of the image that I portrayed. Fortunately I didn't have to fake my dress or demeanor it was who I am. I feel bad that Caylee does not have a choice of what cute little outfit she should wear not to court but to be going to Disney or the water park. Caylee's name when mentioned in court makes my heart hurt. Having her accused laughing and joking with those around her is so disrespectful to her memory. In my opinion you can't change the outside unless the change comes from the inside and it is obvious that all the time KC has for reflection nothing has changed. She feels she is on the verge of being a superstar but I am afraid her perception is not based on reality. Flirting with your attorney is not attractive.

Thanks for that reality check. We don't want to admit that we humans are that, well.. that judgemental on something like looks. But we are.

I'm intrested in what those folks would say a bout how she acts in the court room. In all seriousness, I don't expect her to be grieving 24/7, like some folks here expect her to be doing. It's been 6 months, even someone experencing real grief, would be able to contain it somewhat, for a short period of time. However, during this short thirty mintues of time, wouldn't the jury expect her to act, well.. less smiley and less playful? I got a feeling it's to show confidence, but considering the chatter was about her dead daughters bones, etc.. smiling and playing is bad timing. Either she doesn't care about her daughter, or she is tuning out what is being said. Either 'picture' isn't a good one for her to be projecting, I would think.

I bring this up, cause this seems like it will be a real issue for Casey's team. They got to teach her that 'this' isn't how to act. How does one go about that. It would seem like she would know that 'that' wasn't the time to be playing. Even a year later and folks wouldn't 'see' it as an ok time to be smiling, etc. They may want to control folks from talking about it. Or the media from reporting about it.. but that doesn't change the reality of what the jury will think when they see it for themselves.

I don't think that her presentation and appearance will have much effect on anyone.
However, I think that she and Baez think it will matter. he is not that great of an attorney and he has obviously noticed the way she looks (externally). If he is telling her that her looks will matter, then she will believe him.

HELLO! HELLO OMG, I can't say what I feel.......I need a Break.. I'm leaving..................

An innocent mother would be devestated, no smirking, laughing, joking, ITA with you, he cannot control her laughing and smirking, the Jury will be watching her very closely I believe

Not to mention that in today's proceedings @ aprox. 7:08 of the video, KC is actually seen teasing JB with her "pen" all while Nejame is speaking of Caylee's remains!!!

http://www.wftv.com/video/18602400/index.html

Now, please tell me what Mother who's lost her only child displays that kind of inappropriate behavior???

I don't care at all about the suit and the bun. I don't think it's big deal, but I will say I don't think this librarian look is going to help her at all. I think JB went the wrong way with the suit. She looked harsh and out of place. I don't think it will do anything to help gain sympathy for her if that is what he going for. JB should put her in a simple dress, something that creates a younger look. Personally, the bun made me think of Nurse Ratchet, not poor young mother.

I was in court today and sat behind the defendant. Her jacket with those pants was a horrible mismatch. The pants were not-quite Navy blue thick cotton and the jacket was a dressier fabric with thin pin stripes. I'm not being snooty by saying they were a mismatch, they looked tacky. The pants were too small as the pockets poked out (ladies, you know what I mean). AND, a wretched hispanic teen-aged boy sat next to me texting someone prior to the start of the hearing "boy, is she hot". "she is so beautiful", and afterwards near the elevators he was speaking those words into his cell phone.

ITA Does not matter what clothes she has on, her face and smiles say it all.

There is no way that she picked those clothes or asked for them herself. Either Baez picked them or her mother got them from her closet or they were Cindy's to begin with. I wonder how Cindy is about hanging onto clothes?

As I said earlier I doubt she selected them herself

Thank you for reporting live from the courthouse. Gosh I have to say that must be weird you being there and seeing her in the flesh and then writing here!
Are you on Camera ?

To dissipate the PG Rumours in your opinion did she look pg ?
In your opinion did it look like she was *playing up* with her lawyer
