I know I posted about that early on in the case also (I'm sure I wasn't the only one), about her strange gesture of inspecting her own tears, as if to figure out what is this that's coming out of my eyes, or as if actually looking in the tears for something, some answer.
I know a lot of people have said they didn't see actual tears, but on my TV it definitely wasn't just "dry crying", there was a continual stream of tears. To me, it looked like on that day (GJ day I think) that she might be realizing for the first time what was actually going on. To me, she seemed to have genuine emotion for the first time that we had seen, like she was too upset to fake and put on the fake faces, her nose was red, her face was flushed, she was fighting back tears but they streamed continually, she wasn't doing a boo-hoo fake crying face with frown but a real, trembling mouth and chin type of natural crying face, trying to suppress it but couldn't. Usually we don't see any of this. Her instant wiping away of every tear could also indicate that she doesn't feel allowed to cry or show feelings.
For me in the jailhouse visit videos from August, the strangest part of her behavior is the occasional giddy smile and laugh, it's not just a laugh, it has a giddy quality, kind of delirious looking quality. Generally she doesn't seem to realize where she really is or what's really going on, as if she isn't aware that Caylee was really gone and in grave danger. And the fake "audition" type of smile, exactly like the smiles in so many of the posed photos she'd had on her facebook and so on. And the way she shifts completely from one style of behavior to another, like different personas entirely. During the latest hearing, she seemed more appropriate and aware of the situation, but when the lawyers asked her something, she did put on the fake "audition" type smile for them on two occasions and did do the strange little giddy laugh for one of them in response to something they said. I suspect these are responses that she was in the habit of using before all of this, and don't necessarily express her true feelings. It did appear very odd, though, even though it was only once in the entire hearing, generally she looked very serious and sad and aware of the situation, and her hands were shaking. At times she seemed to be fighting to keep her face composed. She engaged in her nervous hand rubbing gesture a few times, I'm sure a lot of people would describe it as a "hand washing gesture", it was mainly just doing a kind of friction rub with the palms though, but it did jump out. I've noticed both she and Cindy do "mouth buttoning"/silencing oneself type of gestures with their lips and putting fingers to their lips. Well, I guess I might be doing any of these gestures and probably others too if I were in such a terrible situation, but anyway, body language is always interesting. It's amazing how much we actually use it when trying to "read" other people.
