...“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend - her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said in a statement. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

A Food Network spokesperson said in a statement: “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent - teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”...

Anne Burrell's husband was the person who found her unresponsive and lying on the floor of their shower.

We're told Claxton last saw her alive around 1 AM the night before ... then found her between six and seven hours later in the shower. He then called 911.

Celebrity chef Anne Burrell’s body was found next to dozens of pills inside her Brooklyn home, sources told The Post Thursday, as police continue to investigate her unexplained and sudden death.

Burrell, 55, was found unresponsive in her shower shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, after her husband, Stuart Claxton, found her and called 911, police said.

The night before her death, Burrell performed improv at a Brooklyn venue and was last seen “in great spirits” around 1 that morning, according to a witness.

This NYT report might have a paywall.

The New York City Police Department is investigating the death of Anne Burrell, the popular Food Network star who was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Tuesday morning, as a possible drug overdose, according to an internal document viewed by The New York Times.

The document said Ms. Burrell, who was 55, had been “discovered in the shower unconscious and unresponsive surrounded by approximately (100) assorted pills.” Emergency medical workers who responded to a 911 call pronounced her dead at the scene...

I have so many questions about this. Why would someone take an overdose in shower or go into shower with the pills after taking overdose?? There was over 100 pills she was surrounded by. I'm sorry, it seems staged. 100 assorted pills seems over kill. Was the shower on? Her husband didn't hear it running for hours if so? Why in shower without water running if not? All seems suspect to me.

I'm with you! A lot of things don't make sense. My first thought was that it seemed staged. Her tox report will be interesting.

It does seem strange. If she'd got into a bath after taking pills I could understand that.
But I doubt it was staged. I doubt someone would surround her with so many pills. It's so many that it makes it look suspicious.

I don't know, but what pops into my mind is to hide and so not be discovered 'too soon'.

I think people forget that murder is extremely rare, self harm is not.

Obviously, if the pills were not her prescriptions/purchases, that will be suspicious.

But if she did have many prescriptions/purchased other drugs, one has to ask what was behind that. After all, celebrities are just actors, in public. They are playing a role.
