ITA!

I love the chicks. I remember one summer, I took my kids on lots of road trips. We listened to the chicks so much, I am sure they know every word to every song...I just bought their new disk. They're coming to town in November, and I am taking my kids!

(hi Nova!:blowkiss: )

(Hey, Sandy! :blowkiss: )

Did I get deleted for saying there's something about the DC that makes otherwise reasonable posters go a little nuts? Isn't this thread ample evidence?

I look forward with confidence to posts on how the DC drink the blood of "Christian" babies and sacrifice a red-headed virgin every Halloween.

But in the meantime, it's a tad premature to declare a #1 album, the cover of Time, and appearances on Letterman and GMA, "career suicide."

I figure the Dixie Chick thread(s) will still be going strong in October and I wanted to say it first.

Seriously, maybe I just lost my own post, but I thought my phrase "a little nuts" was clearly crafted to indicate fond bemusement rather than insult.

Thanks for the answer, J. Not a problem.

After all, isn't the theme of this thread "Silencing Those Who Speak the Truth"?

(Sorry. Couldn't resist. :innocent: )

Well, I don't think it was necessarily the "truth," merely an opinion (wrong as it was) tee hee hee. ;)

Dear Jeana, do get out of your building before it burns up, will you, please? I realize lawyers will spend all eternity among flames, but there's no reason to rush it! :blowkiss:

LOL I'm just wrapping up. I should be only a few more minutes. My eyes are starting to burn a little bit. At least the fire trucks are nearby waiting for this woman to decide whether she's going to jump or not.

As you know, I worked at law firms for over 20 years. Never could get the attorneys out, fire or drill. After the Loma Prieta quake, I was asked to helicopter into an SF skyscraper to get the computers up for the attorneys - who were still there! Post 9/11, same deal.

Update on the CHICKS concert tour....

NASHVILLE (Billboard) - Initial ticket sales for the Dixie Chicks' upcoming tour are far below expectations and several dates will likely be canceled or postoned.

Ticket counts for the 20-plus arena shows that went on sale last weekend were averaging 5,000-6,000 per show in major markets and less in secondaries, according to sources contacted by Billboard. Venue capacities on the tour generally top 15,000.

In contrast, the band's new album, "Taking the Long Way," sold 526,000 units in its first week, according to Nielsen Soundscan, the third-largest sales week of 2006. The album logged a second week in the period ended June 4, according to sales data issued Wednesday.

LOL that's funny Jeana. But I guess it's easier to shell over money for the CD but when it comes to the big bucks for the concerty they're not worth it. LOL But I think the closet is a good place for them. :D

Well, it didn't look as though the Chicks were expecting too much from their fans in the first place if they were looking for venues that only held 5,000 people. The fact that they can't sell enough tickets to fill that small of a place is telling.

  • #239
Maybe, the people who bought their CD did so because they could listen to their music without having to hear the political BS. I'm guessing that the CD is just music with no political commentary. You can't control that if you are at a concert.

The venues they booked were arenas - with a capacity of 15,000. They only sold 5-6,000 at some of those venues.

I bet it was family and their record label who bought all the CD's. :D That's why their shows aren't selling - how many relatives can there be to buy tickets? :innocent:
