another comment from the chicks....

NEW YORK — Dixie Chick Emily Robison has apologized to the women of "The View" for dissing them in Time magazine.

"view" co-host Meredith Vieira read Robison's mea culpa at the top of yesterday's show.

"I wanted to write you directly to apologize for my comment in Time magazine. I attempted to explain how much we respect maverick artists like Bruce Springsteen," Robison wrote. "My intention was not to insult 'The View,' and at the time, I was truly just pulling a name out of the air."

For women who love to speak their minds and be bold and shocking with their statements they sure issue a lot of apologies after the fact. Why is that? :waitasec: Maybe they should learn to think before they speak or :silenced:

Well that's a given. They're about as liberal as will fit into one body and the Republicans hate them.

Good advice, but how often has each of us* here had to retract, soften or otherwise clarify a post? Lucky for us we aren't important enough to attract reporters with microphones.

* Okay. Each of us, probably except for you, Anngelique.

I love Reba. I think she is beautiful and I love her vocal range. I've seen her in concert and she is wonderful. So many of the other female country singers praise Reba for being the person that she is and for the help she gave them when they were just getting started. She is just such a sweetheart. I'm glad that she let the chicks know that she was aware of their remark.

Speaking of that remark about Toby and Reba. I have no idea what the chicks meant by that remark but most people don't try to analyze remarks made by others. I read that remark and knowing the way things were with the chicks and Toby THREE years ago I took it that it was a slam at Reba too.
It sounds like Reba took it as a negative too. Bless her sense of humor!

I think the Chicks came back just spoiling for a fight. They are gone for THREE years and then here they come picking up the fight like it happened a week ago. Do they know that they weren't the center of country music's universe during those THREE years? Most of us didn't think of them or talk about them over that time. In fact, most of us probably forgot all about them.

I'll still play the CD's that I have of theirs but I won't buy anymore of their CDs. By the way, it is my understanding that a remark by them aimed at Toby is how the war started between them and Toby. Toby didn't go looking for a fight with them. They put his music down by saying something about "anyone could write a song like"...talking about his "Red, White, and Blue. It was a snide remark that was uncalled for. Sounds to me like they are trying to pick the fight back up with Toby but I don't think that he will bite.

Yes, but we're allowed to. President Bush isn't allowed to though. ;)

The 'Chicks were on GMA this morning. I missed the interview segment, but I was disappointed by the concert. I don't care for their "new" sound. While I am a country fan, I listen to all kinds of music from pop, to head-banger, to rap, to classical, etc....
I hope they can find a new fan base.

If the only issue were GWB's "speech problems," we would all chuckle affectionately (as we did with Ford's stumbling).

Alas, the greater problem has turned out to be what he actually means, not the silly things he says.

I always laugh when he and Tony Blair do a joint press conference. Tony speaks so elloquently. I think he should just stand there and shake his head in agreement and let Tony do all the talking.

Maybe the thinking too.

Yes, Tony is very eloquent and the accent makes him even more so.

They will :)
There are more than likely people who agree with their political opinions, just as there are people here who don't.
They are quite big here in Australia and personally I couldn't give a rat's what they think of their President, god know's I don't think much of him, so why should they :p

Right on, Narla!

(P.S. Do you know the Aussie singer, David Campbell? We've nearly worn out his records in our house.)

We must be about the same vintage Nova, I still call them records too :p
I like David Campbell as well, he's cute :)

Excellent post, Bobbi's Angel!!!! I used to stick up for the Chicks' right of free speech, but no more. Freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to try to pick a fight and insult innocent people such as Reba, just for publicity. And after THREE YEARS, no less ! I'll listen to my old chicks' cds, but not one dime will ever go to them again. Meanwhile, I continue to buy reba's cds and dvds, etc. She is and will always be my fave ! She's such a class act, and I loved the way she let the chicks know that she was aware of their comment and wasn't intimidated by them. That joke was priceless ! Did you see her eyes twinkle when she said it ?

I don't see why they can't be records, but you are right, of course: we play Campbell's CDs. He did a show at a theater in Melbourne where a friend of mine often directs. They didn't work on the same show, but I'm hoping she met him and will have lots of stories when I see her again.

For those of you who don't want to buy the Dixie Chick's newest CD's anymore... here is a group that has their sound but not their big mouths. LOL

They're called The Wreckers and if you are familiar with Michelle Branch the group is made up of her and her friend. You can listen to two of their songs here...
