Any suggestions for constructive things to do ....

Going from memory - looking for the video:
There was a female defense attorney on one of the talk shows, that aired after JB gave "the" opening statement, sometime during the trial when it was obvious that the Defense wasn't going to try to prove anything they said in the opening.
She was shocked and said that JB was the reason Defense Attorney's aren't liked. She went on to say that there needed to be some law prohibiting attorneys from just saying anything to create reasonable doubt.

For those that can offer prayers for the right thing to happen in the wake of this current verdict for Caylee - please help me say prayers for Kari's girls - I am just horrified at what is coming out in the custody case.

THANKS in advance for prayers, light and healing energy you can send toward that family.

Isn't that the exact reason Nancy Grace can't practice anymore? Same thing in an opening statement about some type of physical abuse happening and then she didn't prove it.....don't know the complete story but, you get the idea!

Hi....my first thread. Hope I do this OK.

Any suggestions for constructive things to do with the sadness and anger that justice was not served. I exercised and am going out to the garden, but I want to help in the long run. Not just help deal with my disgust right now. But try to help other people. Try to help with the big picture.

Are there any online places to volunteer in helping with missing or abused children? I can't drive right now for health reasons, but I want to do something to feel like I am contributing and helping make a little less injustice in this world.

What do you guys do?

Someone mentioned earlier that they thought there should be at least one professional juror on every jury. I think that is an outstanding idea. It could be one impartial professional who is with the jury at all times they are together and who is also sequestered with them. Not a voting member of the jury but an expert in trial law and someone who is there to keep an eye on the jury, be present to prevent vulnerable jurors from being pressured, and explain points of law such as the difference between doubt and of reasonable doubt. Someone who could bring to the judge's attention any improprieties. It seems these days with jurors holding out for the highest bidder that the time has come to police those who hold the power to create their own opportunities by returning shocking verdicts.

I'd also like to see trial law changed so that a defense team could not throw out wild unsubstantiated accusations to create doubt and then not follow up and present any evidence of it.

How many people have posted that they would have taken Caylee?

Consider becoming a Foster Parent , Adoptive Parent or a Guardian Ad Litem

Protect the public: dumping dead bodies especially if they are diseased is a public health hazard. Insist violators are prosecuted for the crime.

Bumping because I thought this thread had a lot of good ideas.

Use the resources here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=179"]National and International Databases and Resources - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

to find a case in your state or country that isn't listed in WS's "cold cases." Post it.

A wonderful thing, if you can do it, is to become a foster parent. The difference you could make in a child's life could be life changing.

Another option could be to volunteer at a children's emergency shelter, if you have one locally. For example, there's a shelter in my area that uses volunteers for tutoring, rocking infants, bedtime routines (brushing kids' teeth and reading them stories), has volunteers bring in cakes for birthdays, etc. Shelters like this often have lengthy background checks (this particular shelter takes a few months, I think). But that's necessary to protect the children from any volunteers who may have ill motives.

Yet another option, perhaps you could gather and make donations to a shelter? Call or look online to see what a local shelter could use. I would guess toys, clothes, personal hygiene and grooming supplies, school supplies, etc. would always be in demand.

Hope this helps.

How about this- volunteer with a local women's shelter- many times these women have court dates (with offending s.o.) have to look for places to live, look for jobs, etc. You could babysit for the kids while the mother is away, the shelter has no provisions for babysitting in our women's shelter so residents are leaving the kids with relatives or asking other shelter moms to watch them.
Just an idea.

I hadn't thought of this. Great idea!

Also, I've been in social work for years. When you donate groceries, etc. Don't forget sanitary napkins/tampons for women's shelters. It may not be a glamorous donation but very necessary and often overlooked.

Totally self indulgent, but follow Kate Middleton- what Kate wore blog... a bit of happiness. :)

There are also many non-profits devoted to creating a culture of peace and non-violence for the generations to come. Kids for Peace USA is a wonderful organization to support in their ability to use the Peace Pledge that effect kids in their formative stages so that they have less of a risk to become a Casey Anthony. It sure doesn't hurt for adults either. I know that when I recite the pledge, I realize how aIcould be a much better role models for our kids...the ambassadors of our future.

plant a Caylee garden..i put in blue plumbago..some impatients..tulips and butterfly bush..everything is blooming except tulips..they will bloom next spring.

First constructive thing I will do is to NOT look at the juror statement list thread. I would need an entire roll of Henkel to keep my head from exploding if I went into that thread.

I have been thinking about this very topic. I have tried to slowly distance myself from this case, but it's hard after three years of living this case. My passion is working with wounded warriors, as we live close to a military medical hospital, where there are many soldiers in need.

I have read many great ideas on this thread, and I appreciate all of them. The time, heartache, and effort we have all spent, on this trial, HAS to lead to something worthwhile. Thanks, to all of you, for reminding me that helping others is the best therapy we can give ourselves !
