i see the judge says they can only view tapes of the girls police interviews at the da's office...but they can have copies of jaycee's interview.

so whats up with the protection orders? this is seriously annoying

but im gonna make a little conjecture here.

since the judge ruled on seeing jaycee and the girls videos, that makes it sound like he is not granting them permission to actually talk to them.

so is that what happened in the closed hearing?

My understanding is that the judge granted the protective order. The Garridos and their attorneys cannot contact Jaycee or the girls directly, but Gellman and Tapson can contact Holley, Jaycee's attorney.

I think they discussed the Garrido's phone calls in the closed hearing.

I'm looking forward to hearing adnoid's and Dr. Doogie's impressions.

Sorry, I had to run some errands for the little woman before posting.

Here are the highlights:

*Phil and Nancy are allowed two more brief phone calls between them over the next two months.

*Garridos's attornies are allowed to view "100's, if not 1000's" of photo evidence. These include pictures of the property taken by LE and also family photos taken from home. The lawyers cannot share with their clients.

* Garridos's lawyers can receive a copy of a video of Jaycee's interview with a counselor (they only had a transcript before). Judge allowed attornies to view copy of interview with the girls only at DA's office - no copy to them. They cannot show videos to the Garridos.

*Judge dismissed the two court appointed attornies for the girls and accepted the new attorney. He then chastised the absent new lawyer for not being there. (She's off to a good start. :croc

"Judge set a hearing date of May 20 to deal with a witness who was supposed to appear at the morning hearing who did not show and did not provide material for discovery. It turns out that this witness was a doctor who treated either Jaycee or one of the Garrido's in the 1990's and was supposed to supply medical records.

the thought of garrido and his wife stewing in there juices for 6 months knowing neither they nor there lawyers can contact jaycee or the girls just makes me warm and fuzzy inside

*Judge granted a protective order keeping the Garridos and the lawyers away from Jaycee and the girls. Garridos's lawyers can call Jaycee's new attorney, but new attorney is under no obligation to respond.

Thanks for your recaps, adnoid and Dr. Doogie! You know, I've learned more about the hearing from the two of you than I did from all the news articles I've read. I have two questions, though. First, why is the next hearing date so far away (October)? Secondly, when do you guys think this will go to trial?
