March 19 while he twists in the wind. Some things are just so unfair.

All this praise for Aaron Spencer and parents like him can have devastating consequences. It can deter children from telling their parents about sexual abuse. The fear that your parents will kill your abuser and go to jail is a powerful incentive to stay silent.

I understand your point, but think it’s flawed on this case. The Spencer’s had reported the abuse to LE and a criminal complaint had been filed. The case was working its way through the legal system. There was a RO in place but the defendant disobeyed it.

Had he not picked up Spencer’s daughter at 2AM and taken her away from the home in his vehicle. Would still be alive. Mom and Dad thought her life was in danger, suspecting that because of the pending court case. He was trying to eliminate the victim altogether.

Children who will not tell their parent about sexual abuse specifically because they feel the parent will kill the abuser. Likely live in a violent or troubled home and fear/don’t trust their parent under any circumstance.

He already KNEW about the abuse. You have no idea whether the child told her parents in the first place.

If there has been "praise" for Spencer here, I've missed it.

I hope he is acquitted, that's it and that's all.

If he's convicted, what are the sentencing parameters? Must it always include a prison term no matter what, or does the judge have some room for discretion?

He’s a hero. God forbid anyone ever try to come into my house and snatch my child! I don’t love firearms but we have them in the house (locked and secured from little hands) for that reason. If someone breaks into my home and threatens my children, they will be shot. Lock me under the jail. Absolutely ridiculous that he’s being prosecuted. MOO

My post was about the reaction to this case in the press and social media. It wasn't about the Spencer family.

I disagree with your comment that children who fear disclosing must come from violent or troubled homes. I didn't.

My post was not about Aaron Spencer or his child.

Prosecuting Attorney Chuck Graham, who charged Spencer with second-degree murder explained how Spencer’s “fear” is only part of the story and that there is more to the situation.

“They have a lot to say about the situation and me, but what’s not being put out there is the whole story and ethically I can’t go much further,” Graham said
Arkansas dad pleads not guilty to shooting death of man found with his teen daughter

While I certainly do not view taking someone's life a heroic act or a praiseworthy act, I do understand the action IF things happened as described by Mr. Spencer. I am curious to hear what prosecutors say we haven't been told yet that might change how I view Spencer's actions.

This prosecutor needs to drop the charges.

That would set a precedent for vigilante justice, which is a huge leap away from the classical structure of justice that took centuries to achieve. When everyone becomes a self-appointed law enforcer, then no one is safe anymore.

its not vigilante justice if his daughter is in active danger and the cops do nothing.

Fosler picked up a female minor from her home at 2 AM. He had been charged with stalking and sexually assaulting her and there was an active RO. Whatever happened in the confrontation that night is attributable to Fosler being in the wrong. He placed himself in that position.

What l’m actually curious about, is how the minor was still in contact with him and agreed to exit her home and leave with him?

To be fair. Aaron had called the cops and they were in the process of responding. But he found Fosler and the minor first, as he had went out to search for them.

So it wasn’t that the cops were doing nothing.

At about 1:12 a.m. on October 8, 2024 deputies were called to a Lonoke County home with reports of a missing 14-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, reports showed that the father of the teen, Aaron Spencer, had reportedly found the teen inside a vehicle with a man later identified as Michael Fosler.

Spencer was taken into custody and transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center where he is facing a murder charge for the alleged shooting of Fosler. According to court files, authorities said Fosler had been previously charged with two counts of alleged internet stalking of a child, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and two counts of sexual indecency with a child.

During an arraignment that was held at the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office on December 2, 2024, Spencer pleaded not guilty. He is currently out on bond and his jury trial date has been set for March 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

People are literally calling him a hero here, how is that not praise?

There may be parallels between this case and the case of the sheriff who shot the judge - we still don’t know the motive there, but I don’t recall anyone siding with the sheriff.

oh lots and lots have suggested Sheriff Stines was justified in shooting Judge Mullins. And MOO plenty of people here have suggested this father was justified in his actions. I am not one of those people in either case.

On this case I am reserving judgment until I know more of the facts. In the case of the judge, I think Mickey should be locked up for life. JMO

I’m curious, not knowing what the sheriff's
motivation was why are you sure he deserves that when you are willing to reserve judgement in the Arkansas case? Is it the law enforcement angle or something else?
