I don’t know why I continue to be surprised by a lack of progress, or even information, in these missing cases. Thanks for your diligence in looking for updates @mlhenn .

This article is about someone who got shot at Murray Park during a “caravanning” event a couple of days ago. I never heard of caravanning, but the article explains it:

Caravanning — banned in Little Rock since April — is defined as people loitering in cars in groups of 10 or more. It's usually characterized by drag racing or burnouts. Caravanning has been related to multiple instances of property damage and noise, and occasionally gunfire, police said.”

Was a similar group there when Alan Sr was there back on Dec 18 or 19? At best, those people could be questioned if they saw Alan Sr there and what they know. At worst, could there have been an altercation?

An interesting suggestion. He went missing late afternoon on a Friday, a time when such events might be starting to pick up steam. I've never heard it called caravanning, but there's also been a big increase in late night gatherings and drag racing here in this part of North Carolina.

Little Rock man still searching for father almost 100 days after disappearance

March 25
Almost 100 days after the disappearance, with no answers and no leads, Buckels Jr. is still hoping for good news.
Alan Buckels Jr. last saw his dad, Alan Buckels Sr. on Dec. 18th around 3 p.m. He was leaving their home on North Pierce Street in Little Rock to go to the grocery store.
Unfortunately, Buckels Sr. never made it back home.
He filed a police report, and soon after his dad’s white van was found parked and unattended near the river at Murray Park. Buckels Jr. said his phone, wallet and groceries were still in the locked car when police discovered it.

Buckels said his dad was perfectly normal in the days leading up to his disappearance. He said he wasn’t known to go off the grid, had no known enemies and never really visited Murray Park. Buckels Sr. wasn’t much of an outdoorsman and didn’t go on frequent walks or hikes due to an ankle injury.

“He can’t swim, he’s scared of the water," Buckels Jr. said. "I don’t even think he’d be able to walk down to the water."

Buckels Jr. believes it’s possible his father may still be alive and just needs to be brought back home. However, he’s asking people to keep an eye on the river as the temperature warms up for any sign of his dad.

Hello all, new to WS here. With the hope that it causes no discomfort and with the realization that the MO doesn’t align, has anyone considered the possibility of Alan’s disappearance having any link to the serial knife attacks in LR since last August?

Welcome to WS!

Merely my opinion, but I don’t think his disappearance is related to the knife attacks. The timing doesn’t align for one. The knife attacks occurred between 1am-6am. They also occurred in areas of S Gaines, Marshall, Wright, etc. (which isn’t terribly far away from Murray Park).
Also, each victim has been found, seems stabbed and left (suspect hasn’t attempted to hide the body, conceal the crime). I may be wrong, but hasn’t each one been outside?

Body found in Jefferson County identified as missing Little Rock man

On April 30, deputies responded to an area off of Bartlett Road along the Arkansas River where a body had been found at the edge of the water by fishermen. The body was sent to the state crime lab and positively identified as Alan Buckels, Sr., 63, on Tuesday.

The cause of death is not known at this time.

@mlhenn thank you. That is quite some distance away (38 miles). While I guess its feasible that Mr. Buckles could have gone in the water at the parking lot area and then his body could have traveled during the intervening time... this isn’t what I expected.

Thank you @heuristicsdepartment for this sad update.

Rest peacefully, Alan. It's very sad, but at least the waiting and wondering is over for his loved ones. May they find some semblance of peace and comfort. :(

Wow, 4 months in the water; I'm surprised they were able to get such a fast identification, or an ID at all. Also a stroke of luck that he washed up and was found at all. So glad that the family can have some degree of closure now, even though I know it's not the ending anyone wanted.

I agree. I found it odd the term "body" was used rather than "decomposed remains" or something along those lines considering how long he's been missing. Perhaps once the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division figures out the cause of his death it'll give them more insight into what might have happened.

Rest peacefully, Mr. Buckels. My condolences go out to his loved ones.
