"under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value
of human life."
So this was added and nothing else changed, right?

EXTREME INDIFFERENCE TO HUMAN LIFE

"Indifference" means simply not caring.* It means lacking any interest in a matter one way or the other.* Extreme means existing in the highest or greatest possible degree.* Extreme indifference is more than ordinary indifference.* It is synonymous with excessive and is the greatest departure from the ordinary.* What evinces an extreme indifference to human life is a question of fact.

So Bill James was just calling out a mistake he thinks he can find a loop hole in to benefit AL? Ha!

I think the motion (or whatever) to change the wording had already been filed at an earlier date; however, it just got ruled ok today to change the wording or whatever and that's what the new court docket entry is about, but I could be wrong and not understanding it properly.

I'm praying for good honest jurors with common sense to be selected tomorrow. It's time for regular people to have a say and stop this legal mumbo jumbo attorney/judge circle jerk fiasco! Let the people have the final word. 4 words, GUILTY of ALL counts!!! Buh- bye Arron Lewis. They'll leave the light on for ya!

So, does this mean the actual trial starts tomorrow or are they still picking the jury members?

  • #489
Probably depends on how long it takes them for jury selection. Might be done by noon if all goes well and trial could start after lunch? Just a guess. Trial is scheduled for Jan 12-14.

Just popping in to wish light and clarity to the jury and to Beverly's family members and all those involved... I had a death in the family recently that was preceded by a long illness, so haven't been around, but was watching from the sidelines as possible.

Ironically I was called for jury duty last week but the case was cancelled at the last moment, we think due to a plea bargain. Was thinking of this trial while being grilled by the Judge and attnys and how difficult it really is to go in with that attitude of innocent until proven guilty and be bias free. I can't see how Beverly's story could be anything but super sympathetic in this case and I realllly hope they secure a fine set of jurors in that courtroom....

Thanks everyone for all the posts helping me to keep up with all the developments! Light and love to Carter family, I've gone through murder trials and it is grueling for family.

I guess placing the duct tape in certain areas to prevent more bugs was a form of compassion. Please know I am being facetious. It wouldn't shock me one bit if the Def attempted to argue something ridiculous like that, though.

I wonder if any evidence will be presented at trial from the dump truck.

100 potential jurors summoned for selection in #arronlewis trial. 3x typical amount, due to concerns of finding impartial jurors. #ARnews

I just followed her on twitter. Thanks! Apparently they've already brought AL in super early. She just tweeted he was brought in under heavy guard.

Good! He'd better behave himself during this trial.

I've never been involved in any trials, so I have no idea what to expect. Would it be out of the question for the jury to be seated today? I'm sure it may take a little longer than a less publicized case, but what's the norm?

I was going to try to make it over there, but my elderly mother is having some pretty bad mobility issues right now and it looks like I'm going to be stuck here.

So sorry for your loss, Zdots! [emoji22] I lost my precious daddy on Christmas morning. [emoji22]
I too sympathize with the Carter's. It's difficult enough to lose a family member, but to lose one to murder has to be 100 times the heartache. Then, having to sit through court hearing how she was murdered. I can't even begin to fathom the emotional roller coaster they are riding on. Hopefully this trial will be over soon for them.
I have missed your valued posts! Again, sincere sympathy for you loss.

It's certainly possible for a jury to be chosen today but you never know! This was a high profile case but it has not stayed too much in the media outside of Arkansas for a while, IMO.

I guess we'll see!
