If a judge orders an incarcerated person to undergo a mental health evaluation....does the inmate have the right to refuse? Surly he can just not cooperate...but can he refuse the assessment all together?

And if he wants to plead guilty....I say let him!!

If I said 17th I misspoke. I NEVER said the urine and hair follicle were different days or that one was a week before the other. I always knew they were same day. That day was the day they went to custody court Oct 21st. I may have said it takes 4-7 days to get results back on hair follicle test. She was waiting on those results for about a week.

@Butler321 can easily verify this and clear up this matter since she seems to be believed when I'm not. That's ok and it does not hurt my feelings. I just know the FACTS on this one and if the court docs are confusing then I'm sorry.

I'm sorry if my comment felt like an attack on you. It wasn't intended to. I'm sure seeing your friend in such a scary situation was terribly upsetting. I can't imagine what you (and her other friends and her family) are going through. Please forgive me for not being more aware and sensitive of what you're experiencing.

I think it is too early too tell. Motions have to be filed on all things and I believe that is usually decided at a later date.

Where do you get it is legal? I have never known inmates, regardless of where they are housed, even in different states that can write each other. It is banned. All jail and prison mail is stamped. You can be put on lockdown for that.

ETA at least not in the states that I know of. AR could be different but I didn't think co defendants were ever allowed. JMHO

Thanks for filling me in. I didn't know that. Regardless, the judge didn't acknowledge or address his question.

I am sure she didn't get an attorney because she had no way to pay for one. A friend of mine is dealing with custody issues and every attorney she spoke with requested a $5,000 retainer.

My understanding is that the charge of thieft by receiving (under a certain dollar amount) is a misdamenor. CL was given a ticket and that's it...she walked out.

I may be wrong, but I bet they charged her with for a reason at the time.

I know. A bunch of friends went in together and raised the money. She was shocked and I think embarrassed, because she is very private but her grown daughter had spilled the beans, so to speak. We were happy to help. Now it is just waiting through the process.

NJ, I was thinking of you this morning, and I actually got shaky putting myself in your shoes, imagining what it would feel like for me seeing a girlfriend of mine being led into court in shackles. I'm sure it's so hard. .

I finally viewed the video, beaglebrd. Talk about very up close and personal! I made the mistake of viewing full screen. Good thing they were shackled and handcuffed or punches might've been thrown to get cameras out of their faces. I'm actually surprised AL didn't say much. He might be sitting in solitary confinement waiting for pen pals.

I do not have any pop up ads, however I have my pop up blocker turned on so that may be why...
