Think I saw on FH (consider it a rumor) that the showing was supposed to be a couple from Russellville(correct name?) Maybe someone else remembers this better than I do.

I saw that too. Not sure if it is rumor or fact. Others have speculated it came from a throw away phone or free phone number.

I seriously doubt the theory of a 3rd party hit. Maybe I'm wrong and will eat crow later. Also, I don't believe that Arkansas LE and prosecutors are hicks and stupid.

Whatever the case, LE was obviously on to AL super fast and I would bet that it had to do with the information that was given for the showing. Just think, if he had used a prepaid phone and paid cash for it he might be a free man right now.

What I don't get is if this was a kidnapping that was planned ahead, why would they setup an appointment to check out a house using their regular phone number and contact information? That is just beyond stupid IMO. Then again, any sort of kidnapping for ransom in the year 2014 is stupid, but that just defies common sense.

You're right. Nothing about this makes any sense to us but I have no doubt the prosecutor has a motive in mind.

They said at the press conference that BC was not targeted. Could the referral have been from an online website listing? I don't know how Zillow and other similar sites like that work. (I worked in real estate but it was in the 2nd Dark Ages: pre-internet.) How do they determine which RE agent gets the referral from something like that? I had a throwaway email account I used when I was looking at homes for sale a few years back. I continued to receive email solicitations for similar properties from a particular agent and IIRC & AFAIK she wasn't the listing agent for any of the houses.

Gosh, everything has changed so much, it's crazy.

the motive/s are listed in their arrest paperwork...

AL's fingerprints and dna are on record due to him being a felon- they may have gotten fingerprints off many items early on ...

What would you think if you knew CL was wearing BC's earrings & knew they came from BC whether she took them off her or not ...

just a question ..

Kidnapping for ransom/or to terrorize? Are those the motives that are listed?

I would think that was very stupid, not to mention, how could you kill someone and then wear their earrings, if in fact, she wore earrings taken from BC.

You're right about the fingerprints and DNA. I think we can rule out them linking the crime to AL in the beginning by DNA because that would have taken longer for them to process IMO. Fingerprints are a definite possibility. That's not to say there isn't DNA evidence linking AL though, just probably not in the very early stages of the investigation.

I think the cell phones lead them to him. His and BC were in same spot at same time while he had her phone, including taking it to his house.

GPS tracking is my guess

I think I would have to throw up. That would be morbid.

I didn't know that was one of the discoveries! Can you link me to that please? The fact that they set up the appt using their phone number and info? I totally missed that. And by "they" you mean there is record of both CL & AL using their number(s)? How did I miss that? I thought it was still in the to be determined stage. Thanks!

Ok I'm reading further and it seems then that was not a fact, that Al or -AL & CL - made the house showing appt on their own phone(s)? Can anyone tell me if this falls into the rumor, suspected as true, or the evidence-proven fact category? Confused now...thanks

Gosh, everything has changed so much, it's crazy.

Some agents will pay for placement at the various portals (Trulia, Zillow, Redfin etc) so that they appear kind of hovering on the pages to help any interested customers looking via that website / portal. Eventually it all links back to the listing agent if they want to schedule a showing at a property - but its one of the many ways some agents try to pick up new client's and attract business. Certain portals have a ready to go 24 hr chat system linked up on that page and the unsuspecting would-be-buyer often thinks they're chatting with the listing agent ....which is almost never the case. It's not a great way to find a Realtor IMO... No way to gauge quality and a lot of not so good caliber agents are lurking there. ;) it's luck of the draw what you'll get.

In this case, with a foreclosure, often you find the listing agent is very hands-off and works for or with the bank / financial institution foreclosing dept, handling a bundle of properties for them at a time. so they tend to just put up a lockbox and tell buyer's agents on the MLS where to send their offers and what to include. Hope that helps!

I would sort of take what they said at the PC with a grain of salt. LE sometimes say what they want for their own reasons and because they can. They also said AL acted alone and after CL arrest they said she was a suspect all along.

I guess this wasn't confirmed. I assumed this was the case since they were on to him so quick. I'm not sure how else they would have been linked him to the crime that soon. I edited my original post to reflect it is unconfirmed.

Ok got it, thanks. Thought there might have been some finding on that I had missed. So we don't know yet any details about the actual call to set the appt. (if it was a call, I usually arrange showings by email) For now, it's speculation.
