GUILTY AR - Casey Crowder, 17, Pine Bluff, 27 Aug 2006

Did they say she was hit by a truck? For Greta to say that there must be some marks high enough on her body high to point towards a truck rather than a car. Did someone mention they say a suspicious truck around that time.

Found the truck. Caught in a road block. Interviewed driver twice.
No information yet on cause of death..

I just saw some of the show. The gas station was only 1/4 mile down the road. Someone was definitly watching her.

Beyond belief,
You say they caught the truck--was that person cleared?

Bump. I'm curious about the driver of the truck, too. Has anyone heard an update?

Anything new with driver of the white truck? Did they release the results of the autopsy yesterday?

He declined to comment on the specific manner or cause of the girl’s death until he receives the medical examiner’s written report, except to say it was a homicide.

Police are currently interviewing “persons of interest” and are asking witnesses who may have seen Casey in a late-model white Chevrolet pickup between 5 a.m. and noon on Aug. 27 to call the Southeast Arkansas Law Enforcement Center at (870) 382-6212. The truck has distinctive graphics running the length of the truck.

Thanks for the updates y'all. This is so sad.

“The owner of that vehicle is a ‘person of interest,’” Snyder said. “We’ve interviewed him several times. He’s not in custody. We have other leads we’re following.”

..................................................................................................

While authorities have confirmed that Casey’s death was a homicide, they remain tight-lipped about the manner in which she died.

“I respectfully decline to disclose it other than it was homicide,” said 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen.

“I feel very circumspect about what should be released at this point in the investigation,” he said. “I expect to try this case in front of a jury one day and I don’t want anything I, or law enforcement officers, have said to prejudice that trial.”

from the way I am seeing this, sounds to me like she was most likely sexually assulted, possibly in the truck they are looking at. strangulation or blunt force trauma would most likely be the manner in which she died. hopefully the police will have this man in jail soon, that is if he doesn't run off to another state.

They make it sound like they think they have figured out who it is and are waiting on DNA tests. I hope that's right! One of the first things I think of is how many others is this guy responsible for.....

Sounds to me like LE has a very good idea or 'make' on the perp who did this to Casey. I sure hope so for her family''s sake, and for any other desirable girls this dude might run into along his way. Guys like this we all want off the street, right now, correct? YaYa~!

The state Crime Lab has completed the processing and testing of a “vehicle of interest” in the Casey Crowder abduction and murder case, according to Desha County Sheriff-elect Jim Snyder.

Snyder said he doesn’t know if the crime lab found any evidence that would link the white Chevrolet pickup truck to the 17-year-old Pine Bluff girl.
.............

“We won’t know until we get the final report and they said it would be next week,” Snyder said.

..............................

Snyder said police believe they may know why Casey was killed but declined to disclose the possible motive.

“We don’t have anything in stone as to why this abduction and murder took place, but we think we know,” he said.

moral of story... especially for females, since there's so many psychopath males out there these days:
do not ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER let your car get so low that you might run out of gas. if you see your tank getting 1/4 or lower in the DAYTIME,, go to a gas station right then. make it a priority to always do this, espceially if you live in the country or areas where you have to drive on long open stretches of roads, and expecially- if you drive a lot at night.
also... find a good HONEST mechanic (it's hard to find these days but they ARE out there!)-- someone you trust through recommendations of friends or family.. someone who will keep your car tuned up right.. and not just do whatever they can to rip you off- and to give your car continual problems so you have to keep coming back to them. i have said for years that this should be a punishable offense, if you can get proorf that you were decieved or lied to by a mechanic. because it puts peoples' LIVES (especially women's!) in danger!!!

i can only imagine how many missing persons and unsolved murders out there are because of a woman's car breaking down in the middle of nowhere due to some greedy, selfish mechanic who just wants to make an extra buck for himself, or those who are TRAINED to do that to make en extra buck for the shop. they don't realize what they are doing!!!

so mothers/fathers-- tell your daughters how important this is, when they learn how to drive. and give them some MACE they can keep in the glove compartment, so if they have to walk somewhere, at least they might have a chance to defend themselves!

I know the area where this girl was abducted extremely well. My father attended high school in Dumas, Ark. and his sister & her husband still live there. I grew up in Desha County.

I've seen reports that her car was on the south side of Dumas on US 65 (still a 2 lane highway that cuts through vast farmland) yet also that it was 200 yards away from the hospital and an Exxon station. Unless they've built a new one, the hospital is on the North side of town. And the Exxon there isn't 24 hours.

Pickens is on the south side of Dumas--it's actually an old plantation that kind of grew a small community of less than 100 people around it. It's a fairly affluent community, though, as those things go in that part of the state.
If she was headed towards Dumas from Pickens on US 65, she would have to drive pass a used tractor & car lot, the old Sunbeam Appliance plant (where they use to make toasters and mixers), the abandoned Winn-Dixie/Dixie Dandy store, a large strip mall that has (or use to have) a movie theater, a TG&Y, a pizza place & a florist; the Wal-Mart, the Mad Butcher grocery store, the McDonalds, a Sonic and a Best Western motel.

The north end of town is a lot dicier, as it abutts "Mitchellville", what is referred to as a gin-town--a community that grew up around the local cotton gin and rice dryer. It's composed of almost entirely Afrcan Americas & Mexicans, and has a LOT of gangbanging given that the Dumas metro is probably 5000 people, tops. There is a 24 hour truck plaza in Mitchellville right on 65, but I forget what it is--I'm fairly sure its Shamrock or Chevron.

The next community from Pickens headed south on 65 is Winchester, which has under 200 people and is 7 miles from Pickens. The next community after that is Tillar, which has under 300 people, and is 7 miles from Winchester. Both Winchester & Tilllar are actually in Drew County. The next town after Tillar is McGehee, which is about 10 miles away and has around 4000 people and is located in Desha County (the counties are mapped out weird).

To the North of Dumas I beleive the next community is either Grady or Gould.
This is where nearly all the guards and other civilians who work at Cummins Prison Farm live. Cummins Prison Farm is about 20 miles from Dumas. There are signs scattered all along that stretch of 65 that say "Don't Pick Up Hitchhikers!"

Although news reports describe 65 as "busy", that's only during the day. After 10pm the highway is practically deserted except for 18 wheelers. It's a rural area, flat as a pancake, and darker than a grave once you get away from town lights. Due to the poverty in that part of the state, the criminals tend to be exceptionally vicious & brutal. It's definitely Jim Thompson, Joe Lansdale territory.
