Connection in Missing Woman Investigation to Body Found in Trunk

According to the Gurdon Marshall's Office, the mother of Cassandra Carter filed a missing person report for her daughter March 13th, the day she went missing.

In the report a friend claimed Carter may be with a man named Kevin Bolton.

The two were no where to be seen until Bolton was arrested this week in North Carolina with a stolen car.

That's a real shame. I guess she was 20 and he is 37.

Online records from North Carolina's Jackson County Jail indicate that charges against Kevin Dwayne Bolton, 37, range from failure to report a death and possession of a stolen automobile to fleeing, possession of meth and extradition to another state...

The cause of death has not been released, but the victim's body was taken to Charlotte, N.C., for an autopsy, according to news agencies there.

From February 2014:

http://www.picayune-times.com/article/20140220/News/140229959

Nearly one year after authorities in North Carolina discovered the body of a Gurdon woman in the trunk of her own car, an indictment has been returned for the man who allegedly kidnapped her...

A federal grand jury issued the indictment against Bolton, charing him with one count of kidnapping resulting in death. The statutory penalty for that offense is life imprisonment or death...

Officials close to the kidnapping investigation have not said what, if any, relation Bolton had to Carter, nor why Bolton had traveled to North Carolina.

Earlier this month:

http://www.arkansasmatters.com/news/local-news/life-sentence-for-gurdon-man-in-kidnapping-death

A Gurdon man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in a 2013 kidnapping death.

Kevin Bolton, 39, formerly of Spartanburg, South Carolina, was sentenced Thursday in United States District Court in Hot Springs, said a news release issued by Kenneth Elser, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Back in June, he pleaded guilty in the death of Cassie Carter.
