JASPER, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas man charged in his girlfriend's death says the car he changed the brakes on fell on the woman, but investigators say they couldn't find any evidence the man had worked on the vehicle.

A court affidavit says Harderson told police he worked on a car in his sister's driveway while no one was at the Newton County home.

Harderson told police he went inside after removing a tire, and found Bond face down, with the vehicle on her head, when he returned. He says he took Bond to the home of another sister, who called 911.

Bond's cause of death was ruled as strangulation and blunt force facial injuries.

This one hits close to home. I went to Jr High and High School with Chassy. She was a pretty woman. <modsnip> I'm glad they made an arrest so quickly. RIP Chassy.

Man sentenced to 30 years in girlfriend’s death

A Clarksville man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last month.

Johnny Wayne Harderson, 45, told police a jacked-up car fell on his girlfriend, Chasity Bond, 37, of Newton County on Dec. 4.

But an autopsy by the Arkansas medical examiner’s office determined it was a homicide involving strangulation and blunt-force trauma.
