MISSING: Christopher Hernandez, 18, has not been seen since Wednesday. It appears he left the area of Leverett Ave. only wearing a shirt and shorts, with no shoes. 18-year-old Christian Hernandez has not been seen since Wednesday (Dec. 30).

It appears he left the area of Leverett Avenue wearing only a shirt and shorts with no shoes, according to police.

Community searches for missing Fayetteville teen


A community came together Saturday to help find a missing teen.

Christian Hernandez went missing on December 30 after leaving his apartment near Leverett Ave.

People came together at the Harp’s on Garland Ave. to search the area for Hernandez.

There was a foot search of wooded areas, parks and potential hiding places within a mile of walking distance from his apartment.

Hernandez’s mom says he has been struggling with mental illness involving schizophrenia and suicidal thoughts.

Those who have any information on Hernandez’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact Fayetteville police.

It seems one close family members may not be able to help search for Christian. I hope he's safe. His mental state worries me. I'm afraid this is certainly not the typical teenage runaway story.

UPDATE: A foot search for Christian Hernandez, who went missing from Fayetteville on December 30, 2020, is scheduled for Saturday in the Garland Avenue area.

Organizers will meet in the parking lot of the Harps near the intersection of North Street and Garland Avenue at 2 p.m. They plan to do a foot search of wooded areas, parks, and “potential hiding places” within a mile walking distance from Hernandez’s apartment.

Something vitally important. Chris ALWAYS wears a beanie, it's like a crutch, he wears it to bed. Yes his hair is blue but he never shows it. Train your eye to look for tall, slender teens with a beanie on, your mind will be able to process people faster. It's kind of like seeing more red cars when you think about red cars, it's a trick our brains can play on itself. Good luck and God bless!

It appears the family is having problems with someone taking down Christian’s MP flyers; they’ve also shared that someone is leaving them “threatening” notes.

Missing person exhibit makes stop in Fayetteville


A statewide traveling exhibit honoring missing people in Arkansas makes a stop in Fayetteville.

The exhibit displays each individual person’s story and is specific to the region of the state where it’s on display.

The project is hosted by Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

Christian was one of the many missing Arkansans’ stories displayed.

Missing in Arkansas: Christian Hernandez

His mental well-being is why Det. Cody Strange says it became urgent to find Christian.

“I have gotten no tips, nothing about where he could be,” Strange said.

Strange says Christian left without a trace – no credit cards, no phone, not even shoes on his feet.
