I do particularly see a resemblance to Ruth. But as mentioned previously on here, perceptions can be subjective and perhaps we are being hopeful regarding the possibility of a connection. Fingers crossed there will be more updates in the near future. With DNA having pinpointed EDJD’s paternal lineage, it really seems so close yet so far

I've worked on this case for years now and recently I found out I have cancer so I have not had as much time to put in it. But I followed it to Virginia and I do believe her father is Dennis Leroy Layman and a girl he had dated for a very short time who had recently had a daughter who found her that she put up for adoption many years ago. I don't have my info handy but I wonder if the said woman is also her mother. That died in 2017. I will look her up and maybe someone can finish where I stopped

I tried to transfer information from this thread to here, referring to a Gloria Worrell. Didn't work. Is this the lady you are thinking about?

If so, these are her maternal grandparents. The features of her grandfather are strikingly similar, except that he doesn’t have the same nose. Eyes, face shape are similar, though.

Ooh! I thought these were the paternal grandparents. If not I think that the B's seem even more likely. Doesn't explain the DNA though. I have a degree in bioinformatics so deffo not denying the DNA

Re the B family DNA. Could it be that whoever took the test doesn’t have the familial roots they think they do? I’m no expert on genealogy but I’m wondering if that’s a possibility.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I read back through the last few pages. There are a lot of people out there that think they know who their father is but the truth is something different.

To the point where genetic genealogists now warn their customers before proceeding that they could find out their father isn't their father, and ancestry dot com has set up a crises hotline for those unexpected reveals, they were getting so many upset callers. As if it were ancestry's fault there was a skeleton in the caller's closet.

you wouldnt believe how many pregnant women i encounter in groups on social media that are with a subsequent bf and they plan to not tell the kid. so on it goes even tho DNA testing exists. "we will tell them when they are old enough to understand" then it keeps getting put off until they realize waiting was a mistake.

Me and my half-brother did MyHeritage. My great-grandfather is not the one listed on my family tree, and my brother is apparently half English/ Scottish/ Welsh when he's supposed to be 100% Scandinavian.
Genetic genealogy is really difficult. You can look at old documents, obituaries, pictures etc, and hopefully it will make sense compared with the DNA, but I think it's very common it doesn't.
It's so important the genealogist working a case has experience. I've had a feeling since the paternal line was announced that they don't. Does anyone know who it is?
And why are the Bs still being discussed? Whoever is working this would have already (hopefully) noticed the dad had impregnated his aunt or cousin. Many in that family have done their DNA.

Just curious. Do the subsequent bfs know they're not the father and are in agreement with not telling the child? My concern is with the mother not being upfront with the subsequent bf about it, too.

No, it appears they have no good connections to indicate maternal relatives. I believe that is why they're stonewalled. They found close paternal relatives, yet nobody in the family knows who she is so they are no closer to finding her identity.
