I posted what I found - I don't have access to any Hot Springs area newspapers for the time period - sorry.

No worries at all - it's better than nothing! It helps confirm that nothing else seemed to be with the remains at the time they were found, clothing, personal items etc. The fact they seemed to have been there a long time means no soft tissues, I guess, so not killed within the few months prior.

I found Highway 298. If this is the correct spot, the southern start of it is about 30-34 miles from Hot Springs.

Yeh - I don't know. It could be that more information was released later through the papers and I am not finding it or don't have access to it. I'll certainly post if I find something additional.
