Know what's sad?

When I was a little girl, and a not-so-little girl, there were three different neighbors I could go to, when I wanted to. A lady who I called "Gram" and her husband "Gramp"; the lady down the street who had a dog named Solo and an apricot tree in her yard; and my neighbor across the street, a man. His wife had passed, and he lived alone.

My friend - let's call him "Frank" (not his real name) kept a chicken coop, and he'd let me come over and look for eggs, feed the chickens, and help with his yard. He'd make me tea (he was Irish), and we'd garden together; and when harvest time came, he'd let me do the picking. He was a good, good man...

When I look back, I see nothing but good...I'd ride my bike up and down the block, often well after dark, coming to or from the neighbors houses. I loved my block - I'd see them when I left for school, when I came home from school...there wasn't a problem with me going for a walk or visiting a neighbor without my parents or brother with me. I'd just say "I'm going..." and I'd go.

I came to no harm at all. I learned a ton about people, gardening, chickens, apricots, Ireland, and everything in between. If I needed help with homework, I could go ask them, as well as my parents.

I guess what I'm saying is that times really have changed, and not for good. What happened to my childhood safety? Why is this happening to our children, when it didn't happen to me? Why?

Bless little Jersey's heart...fly free, little angel, dance in Heaven, soar in the clouds. Be free, be joyous, and know that you are loved and missed.

I grew up in a small town across the border in Oklahoma under the same circumstances as you. Damn shame kids aren't safe anymore.

That was exactly my first thought.

I wonder if this was a burglary that went bad.
I thought the burglary charge came from entering the home with intent to commit a crime. Does it have to be to steal something or could it be just as I stated above? I have no idea but that's just stuck in my mind.

Yes, burglary is breaking and entering with an intent to commit an offense. So, it's not necessary to steal something-an offense can be something else other than theft.

My thinking as well. My current working theories are

A mom asked that neighbor friends keep an eye on Jersey while she runs to the EZ Mart to see BF and Zach harms Jersey (least likely IMO but possible)

B mom pops next door to visit her friend, AH, thinking no harm can come of it, she's right next door, Zach takes the opportunity to pop next door and rob the place with the excuse he is running out for cigs, Jersey awakens and recognizes him, he eliminates the witness but only two doors down because the time to commit the robbery was already limited to the length of an errand. (Not sure whether I am committed to this theory.)

C same as B except DB is at home asleep in the house, as are the kids, when in the wee hours Zach makes excuse to AH about cig run and attempts the robbery with the same result as B, above. (Kinda liking this theory best at the moment.)

TOTAL SPECULATION ON MY PART.

I wonder if this waste of air will be put in the same prison as Jersey's dad? That would be quite interesting, wouldn't it?

The intent to commit a crime; does not have to be theft.

Earlier in the thread it was disclosed that the utilities at this trailer were in the name of Joseph Blackmon. Also I think he claimed they were brothers. I don't know if JB was living there too. jmo

The younger JB might be his brother but the older one down farther on Zach's list of friends he has a Joe B not Joseph B. You go to that fb page of the older one and he has Zach listed as his son. He's a child sex offender.

Holy moley! I hadn't even considered that angle. Wow.

I think that would be a perfect ending to a horrible horror story. jmo

Well, I must apologize to Brandon as up until I started reading the fb pages Stead was sleuthing today, I had him as my number one suspect (BT). I kept thinking I neglected to search more on the two homes. Today I did. It put doubt in my mind. Zach is odd, he'll get his I'm sure.

RIP Jersey. Prayers for mom, family & friends.

From the FB page, this made me cry.

"A Child of Mine" - unknown

I'll lend you for a little while
A child of mine, God said
For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead
It may be six or seven years,
Or forty-two or three
But will you, till I call her back
Take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And - should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
As a solace for your grief
I cannot promise she will stay
For all from earth returns
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
In my search for teachers true
And from all beings that crowd life's land
I have chosen you
Now, will you give her all your love
Nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again

I fancied that I heard you say
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we'll run
We will shelter her with tenderness
We'll love her while we may -
And for the happiness we have now know
Forever grateful stay."

But should the angels come for her
Much sooner than we'd planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.

True the burglary charge may have nothing to do with an intention to rob. Barring the charging affidavit and search warrants and evidence logs, it remains just as possible IMO that it was than it does that it wasn't.

The family needs to figure out how to moderate the posts. DesaRae is already getting flamed, even though her message was beautiful.

It looks like the vast majority of the posters are taking care of that for them!

BT had statistics against him (boyfriend of the mom), plus attaching himself to the family quickly and all of a sudden posting what looked like a clumsy attempt at an alibi. This is my third Bentonville death sleuthing, and I am now 0-3 on my initial strong suspicions.

Just goes to show that you can never judge a book by its cover.

Oh, he was suspect in my eyes as well. There are things that still don't make sense. Like, how did the neighbor take the girl in the middle of the night, without anyone hearing a thing? That house is like 1000 sq ft. We're the kids left alone? I guess we will find out more on Wed.
