GUILTY AR - Jersey Bridgeman, 6, raped & murdered, Bentonville, 20 Nov 2012 #1

If the house is 704 sq ft, and contained two adults, two (more than two?) kids, two dogs, and ten other assorted animals, then how didn't anyone hear anything?
My house is approx 1,000 sq ft and I don't even need to use the baby monitor, it's so easy to hear everything around here! I can hear everything my kids are doing, not to mention being alerted by our dogs of even a wild skunk or squirrel innocently crossing the yard!
I know what it's like to raise a family in a small house. I'm not understanding the logistics here. I *suppose* it could be something as innocent as the mother being a heavy sleeper & not hearing anything that night...but, these cases have me jaded. What are we talking here - kids left home alone, parents passed out on drugs, an intra-family conspiracy to commit a crime? Are the dogs also heavy sleepers? :-P
I'm sure LE knows a lot more than has been released. This case is weighing heavy on my heart. Jersey looks like a sweet, precious little girl and reminds me of my own kids. It makes me so sad to think of what she went through, whatever that turns out to be. :(

Based on quickly and surely they called it a homicide investigation, and how quickly and how surely the stated that the abandoned house is where she passed away without (to my knowledge) cadaver dogs, I suspect that the crime scene made it pretty apparent. :( That is my unfortunate suspicion anyway. JMO of course.

For some reason the thought of this girl's life coming to a brutal end is hitting me hard so I'm grasping at any explanation that may make her untimely death more explanable. Unfortunately, I too think that it was most likely a violent death for all of the reasons that you mentioned above. I just really, really want it to be something more innocent. Some of these crimes hit me harder than others.

Sorry if this has already been answered: did she share a room with her sister? Were both adults in the home when she disappeared? Were there other adults in the home that night? TIA

This little jewel is so beautiful. RIP Jersey. xo

It seems that LE is keeping it close to their vests regarding the other people at the house that night...

I recall him mentioning nonfood items as well, I believe one or more of the articles mentioned medicine. That seemed unusual to me and the Hannah Overton case is fresh in my mind so my thoughts immediately jumped to Pica. Granted, that is completely self serving for the father so even if he did make that claim I'm not sure how much truth there could be. Even if the Pica longshot was true, using a belt to chain her up was unnecessary and deserved a harsh sentence.

This is JUST a thought... From no sources...,but I am wondering if the "medicines" she got into were daddy's and step-mom's drugs?

And.. Again I am JUST wondering... If Jersey's wandering around the house interfered with their "activities".....

Just wondering...

No one would be alerted if someone tiptoed into Jersey's bedroom and did the "shhhhhhh," thing and led her out -- especially if it was someone she knew -- even just someone in the neighborhood. Or maybe she wandered outside and an opportunistic pedo going by assaulted her. Or . . . we know so little, anything could have happened, really.

Police on Tuesday were in the E-Z Mart nearest Jersey’s house, interviewing employees and examining items on store shelves.

Police estimate Jersey’s death took place between midnight and about 6:45 a.m. Thomas worked at the convenience store from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., an E-Z Mart employee told 5NEWS.

Haven't found link regarding BF on survellance at work yet but found the BBM portion odd. Hadn't noticed that before in the article.

If someone assaulted little Jersey before going to work then proceeded to stock or face, (align to front), products on the shelves there could be evidence of the assault left on something they touched. The killer could have had her blood or other evidence fro her body or the vacant house on his or her hands.

So Jersey's Mom worked there also? Do we know what her shift was?
Was anyone at home with Jersey that night, or don't we know yet?

If this woman's accounts are accurate, and pics are from Jersey's recent home, then DHS really dropped the ball here, it would seem. And because LE is telling the public that they are not in danger, wouldn't that indicate that the killer is within the family?
You have to wonder why wasn't Jersey living with her Bio-Mom last year, before Dad and Stepmom went to prison. Alot of questions, too few answers. :/

I am suspicious about that video of a dirty house. DHS is not releasing anything from her prior case, and the media hasn't been let into her current home that I'm aware of. Where did that footage actually come from?

  • #291
I am not sure what house the video is from either. Was the child visiting her father when abuse took place, or was she living there instead of living with her mother? As for DCF, it drops a lot of balls. We have many threads where they "re-unite" child with relatives and it doesn't end well.

Below is a quote from the Huffington Post article I linked to in post 262 regarding the father's self serving excuse to chain her up. I wanted to source it for reference sake.

According to court records, David Bridgeman told an investigator he cut a belt to fit around his daughter's ankle and chained her to the dresser because she got into medication and other things around the house. He and Jersey's stepmother, Jana Bridgeman, both pleaded guilty in June to false imprisonment, permitting abuse of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Since there is nothing to collaborate his story about her getting into meds and "other things" I am inclined to think that it was a bunch of bull and for whatever readon he did it out of convenience for himself. If there was proof she had gotten into meds (such as trips to the ER, etc) then I might give him the benefit of the doubt. Also, if he chained her out of genuine concern for her wellbeing I doubt that the prison term would have been so long.

Thanks for sticking with my rambling as I work through whether she might have wandered away. I have now resigned myself to believe that the less violent scenarios I proposed are not realistic in this case. I was hoping... le sigh...

The outside of the house in the youtube video is not the same one that Jersey was living. There's no covered carport. I think this is old footage from the dad's & step-mom's old house possibly. They need to clean up the confusion in that news segment. jmo

Yes, that's the dad's house. People, especially reporters, are really getting the two cases confused.

Here's how close the EZ Mart was to Jersey's house. This is the EZ Mart where her stepdad (and maybe her mom?) worked.

Jersey's dad and stepmom are the only people we are SURE did not murder her, since they were sent to jail last summer for long terms.

I have seen that footage before in reference to the father and stepmother's crimes against Jersey. So I do believe it is old tape. jmo

Making new friends on fb is the last thing I'd be doing if you love "little Jers"...but then again, I'm older & doubt big words & bonding from any newly acquired boyfriend in the first place. If you were organizing something in her memory & at least wrote a sweet comment or planning something in her memory before making 9 new friends in the past 20 hours, then I can see that. But that's just me & hope I'm wrong.

I haven't looked at either of their FB pages since last night, but I find it strange there is nothing on either one of them about this tradgedy. Not even condolences from friends. :what:

Unless they have superhuman powers they are definitely not guilty of this crime! I was rambling and didn't close the circle on my thoughts. I was exploring the idea that perhaps Jersey had Pica or would walk in her sleep or would do something that would cause her to leave the house on her own volition. Then perhaps she would be locked out and end up dying of hypothermia. The only reason I brought up the ex is because if he is to be believed to have been acting in her best interest by chaining her then that would lend credibility to the theory that she might have wandered out for whatever reason. The theory was a long shot but at least it didn't lead to a violent end. I have given up on that theory for all of the discussion points brought up here. I was just hoping...
