GUILTY AR - Louise, 81, & Christina Bishop, 40, Bentonville, 18 June 2009

  • #21
One thing that's interesting to me is that GS reported that the groceries were still out and that he was talking to them at 8:30, when he called the police originally. He didn't know at the time that there was a video of them leaving Sam's three hours earlier!

The value of the property might suggest a motive, but if the women were missing (as opposed to found dead), the land might be tied up in one or both estates for years. It would be interesting to know who owns the property.

The truck was in the same condition as when it was reported missing and so far no one has admitted to having any knowledge of who parked it in the lot of Club Hots, he said. The discovery of the truck across the state line wasn’t enough to bring in the FBI, Simpson said. He said two Bentonville detectives are assigned to the case and working it daily and should have some results from the crime lab in a few days.
Simpson said detectives haven’t ruled out anyone as a suspect but still have a lot of information to process.

Louise Bishop owns the property, according to an early article, but the early articles are no longer available on line.
I hate it when they expire articles so quickly.

Does this sound consistent?
He said Louise had to undergo testing with a doctor the next morning, but never showed up.

“I know she wouldn't had missed that appointment,” said Skupien.

Skupien and his wife called all the hospitals in the area, to no avail.

When they went to the Bishops' house two days later, they noticed something unusual -- the door had been unlocked and the alarm turned off.

Louise Bishop had a doctor’s appointment June 19, so Skupien assumed she was busy and he didn’t become concerned about not hearing from her until June 20. He went to the house, and the groceries were still sitting on the counter, and all of their medications were still in the house, he said. http://www.nwanews.com/news/2009/aug...g-pa-20090826/

By the way, they didn't report the Bishops missing until June 21.

The Idaho relatives were mentioned on TV tonight.

Since the women went missing on June 18, Louise's nephew, George Skupien, has been the main point of contact for the family. Christensen says she's never heard of Skupien until now, mainly because they are on different sides of the family.

"I just wanted everyone to know Louise has family out there besides George, and we're devastated," said Christensen. "I wish I could say they'll be found alive. All I'm hoping for is they're found."

Skupien said he didn't have the contact information for some of the women's relatives, which is why they were not alerted about the disappearance personally by him. However, he said he would be open to talk with them further about the case.

This is odd. A Veromi search lists Avoca, Arkansas as one of the towns associated with Christina Bishop. That's the obscure Arkansas town where the Missouri strip club owner had the truck towed.

had some time to look for updates on this case --found this (and BBM) -- IMO, the message on the window is pretty scary...somebody wanted that truck to just disappear -- like maybe even to a chop shop. (just a thought anyway.)

Bentonville Woman Last Seen In June
POSTED: 5:52 pm CST November 5, 2009
UPDATED: 6:55 pm CST November 5, 2009

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Police have given 40/29 News an exclusive look at a key clue in the case of two missing Bentonville women.

Louise and Christina Bishop were last seen at a Sam's Club store in Benton County in June.

Surveillance cameras caught pictures of them leaving in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
....

Simpson gave 40/29 News a close-up look at the recovered truck in hopes that the public can provide some answers.

"Part of the big mystery is, as to the truck itself and how it arrived at the location it was found in," he said. "The fact that the truck was recovered locally is important because it provides all the more possibility that someone may have some details that may help us."

A big part of the mystery was a message scrawled on the truck's window: Free car, just tow away.

"I think the truck obviously had some distinctive markings while it was parked," Simpson said.

Trace evidence was lifted from the truck and the Bentonville Police Department is awaiting lab results of tests on the evidence

Christina's son, Nicolas Johansen, has been arrested in connection with the disappearance! Just heard it on the news. Will go find a link.

18-year-year old Nicolas Johansen was arrested in Garfield this morning. Johansen is charged with hindering an apprehension or prosecution. Police say he gave inconsistent statements while being interviewed during the investigation. Johansen is the biological son of Christina Bishop. http://www.kfsm.com/kfsm-nwa-bentonville-missing-women-arrest,0,5997616.story

Christina's son has just been arrested in connection with the disappearance. I'll try to find a link.

"Johansen is the biological son of Christina Bishop, and his arrest was related to inconsistent statements he provided during the course of this investigation," police added.

Johansen's being held on the felony. Police say they won't have much else to say about the arrest because it's part of an active investigation. http://www.kspr.com/news/70302327.html

Did we even know Christina had a son? I wonder if the family's upping the reward was to convince someone to give more information on the son's whereabouts during the crime.
