Isn't that horrible. It sounds like the father and son are both involved. What kind of a son would murder both his mom and gramma. I hope he get the death penalty. I can't imagine the terror those two women felt. So LE don't know where dad and son are huh? Hope they are looking for them as we speak and that prison is their next home.

Missing Woman's Son Arrested Again in Benton County

Nicholas Johansen, the son of a missing Bentonville woman, was arrested again Wednesday morning outside his Garfield home.

The 18-year-old is being held in the Benton County Jail in connection with a capital murder charge. Johansen's mother Christina and grandmother Louise have been missing since June.

On Tuesday, Benton County Sheriff's Deputies found human remains buried near Johansen's home on Sugar Creek Rd. Johansen lives there with his father, John, who was once married to Christina.

According to this article, NJ was arrested leaving a house down the street. There was a woman in the car with him. I wonder how much she has known about the crime and for how long.
The son of one the missing women from Bentonville was arrested this morning near where authorities believe they have discovered the women’s remains.
Nicolas J. Johansen, 18, 15226 Sugar Creek Road is being held in the Benton County Jail in connection with a capital murder charge.
He was arrested about 9 a.m. today attempting to leave a nearby residence in a vehicle. . . . Johansen attempted to leave a residence at 15212 Sugar Creek Road. A woman in the vehicle was sent back to the house.

Why would he do that?
I know a motive is not needed. But why?

Time for these two women to be laid to rest properly.

I think the motive may have been money. Louise Bishop's property was on the market for around $2,000,000.00. According to real estate sites, her ex and Nicolas's property is estimated to be worth $17,000.00.

I bet the nephew, Skupien, moved into the women's home to keep the son from moving there. Sure looked hinky at the time, but IMO not hinky in retrospect.

Police Find Remains Believed To Be Of Two Missing Women

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. -- Police have arrested the son of missing Christina Bishop, Nicholas James Johansen, and charged him with capital murder Wednesday in the deaths of his mother and grandmother, Louise Bishop. He is currently being held without bail in the Benton County Jail.

Johansen was arrested at his father's house about 9 a.m. Wednesday near where the bodies were discovered.

Louise and Christina Bishop were last seen at a Bentonville Sam's Club last June.

Another arrest and capital murder charge in this case:
Bentonville police have arrested 18-year-old Nicholas Johansen, the son of a missing Bentonville woman, and 29-year-old Michael Winters for Capital Murder.. . .

Johansen, dressed in an orange hooded shirt and wearing dark glasses, was a passenger in a car leaving a house at 15212 Sugar Creek Road about 9 a.m. Burton’s road block was less than 10 yards from the house’s driveway. The car was driven by a woman who was sent back to the house by deputies. Allen said she does not currently face charges
Authorities have no plans to search the house, Allen said, although there are other family members inside.

. . . “Nicholas was a little goofy according to some of the family friends,” Skupien said Wednesday. “Christina didn’t have much contact with him. She lost custody of him in a divorce and John had a history of bad blood between (John Johansen and) Christine and my aunt. They’d had him arrested several times. The family just did not get along ... and this has been going on for 25 years.”“

. . . Another individual who was on the scene showing us around is involved [Winters] , but I can’t say how at this time,” Allen said. “We have no reason to believe there are any other individuals involved other than the two we have in custody.”

He [family friend] said Nicholas Johansen was a good kid who would always help neighbors when they needed it."My wife, Becky, she always told me if I need a hand with anything, call Nicholas," Barentz said. "I think he's loving and kind. He's always been respectful to me and my wife."
Winters, who lived with Johansen for a time, had a different reputation. According to police documents, he was arrested in September on suspicion of abusing his girlfriend's sons. Looks like the dad may be facing some charges soon, since his attorney is not being allowed to represent his son. As far as the grandmother goes, sounds like typical perp-relative whining. Complaining that the police are taking an inconvenient amount of time to search your house for evidence of a murder!

Clinger says a conflict of interest involving Johansen's father, John, means new attorneys must be assigned before that review can begin. Allen explains: "it will all come out eventually, but we're just going to have to wait and give it a little time."

Police believe the remains are those of Louise and Christina Bishop. Christina was Nicholas' mother. At the hearing, Nicholas' father, John declined to go on camera, but said the crime did not happen in his yard or on his mother's property.

Nicholas Johansen's paternal grandmother says she lives in the same house near the area where the bones were found. Upset, she says Bentonville Police made her leave her home three days ago, and she hasn't been allowed back since.

The family of two missing Bentonville women say they have been told that human remains found last month are that of Christina and Louise Bishop, who have been missing since June.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit released today by Benton County prosecutors, investigators believe Christina and her mother Louise were strangled to death, by bare hands. A police tip led investigators to the badly decomposed bodies in a shallow grave near Nicholas Johansen's home last month. Johansen is Christina's son.

The affidavit shows officers found several pieces of evidence that could be related to the crime in Johansen's home and the woods surrounding it. The evidence includes a receipt dated May 20th for duct tape and rubber gloves in Johansen's bedroom. Officers also found a partial roll of duct tape, two ski masks, a denim shirt, a pair of sneakers with socks and a pair of blue jeans hanging out of a plastic bag. Two rubber gloves were tucked in the back pocket of the jeans.

She said they showed up at the Bishop's Bentonville home on June 18, where Johanson met with his mother outside the residence.

According to the affidavit, "As they were talking, Nick began acting like he was going to give Christina a backrub. However, at some point, Nick started to strangle Christina. As Nick was strangling Christina, Louise opened the door and must have seen what was occuring. Reportedly, Louise started to go back in the house so Nick went after Louise and Michael continued to strangle Christina."

Martin goes on to say that both women were killed, their bodies stashed in the back of their own pickup truck, and then buried in the woods behind Johanson's home.

"My aunt would give you the shirt off her back, I can't understand why this happened," said Skupien.

According to Martin, the suspects took about $500 from the home and some jewelry. Winters used most of the money to pay off a cell phone bill the next day.
