looks like his defence will be he helped dispose of the bodies but did not kill the victims, he will be blaming it on his co accused Johansen who goes to trial in January 2012

Convicted murderer Michael Winters, 30, of Bentonville was sentenced to life in prison without parole Tuesday in a Benton County Court. . . . The prosecution pushed for lethal injection but was satisfied with the sentence.
It is one Winters’ defense team was pleased with, as well.
“There's no win here, there's no victory here,” said attorney Drew Ledbetter. “This is the outcome that we set out for in the beginning and we’re grateful that the jury arrived at this conclusion.”

From August 2013:

Nicholas Johansen, 22, reached a plea deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated robbery for his role in assisting Michael Shane Winters in the murders, Stone said.

As part the plea agreement, Johansen was sentenced to 160 years in prison and is required to serve at least 112 years before being eligible for parole, Stone said.
